Garroth One shot: Hope
Your Pov
"We're so sorry. You see..."
They always have some excuse of why they can't go. Either they suddenly have plans or don't have the money for it. They're all excuses of why they don't -or "can't"- do something for me. As selfish as it sounds, I just want them to at least try to take me to do things, or at least try to get the money to do it. However, it just doesn't work that way with my parents. All they do is give me false hope.
3rd Pov
As y/n (your name) enters the school with her head down, she hears someone call her name, "Hey, y/n! How was your weekend?"
She turns around to see the bubbly blond of the school, Garroth Ro'meave, smiling upon her. She immediately smiles from seeing him. "It's been better. How was your weekend?"
Garroth's (my phone would auto correct his name to Carrot xD) smile slightly faltered from y/n's response. "It was great! What happened during the weekend, n/n (nickname)?" "Just the usual.." there was an awkward silence between them until y/n spoke again, "What did you do during the weekend, Garroth?"
"I went to go hang out with Laurence and played video games. Mostly Overwatch." Garroth was trying to find a way to make the girl he loves happy and not heart broken. "Did something happen, y/n? What did they do this time?"
Y/n looked down. She didn't want Garroth to worry for her like last time when her parents gave her false hope. "Nothing important. Let's get to class; the warning bell rang." The young lady smiled and grabbed the blond's hand, so he could stay with her, as she's rushing to first period.
===Time Skip===
The bell rings, meaning it's lunch time.
Y/n walks down the hall, looking at the ground as she thinks of the past events that happened over the weekend. As selfish as it sounds, she wants her parents to keep the promises they make towards her.
They give her false hope. If only she had someone who could do the opposite...
Like Garroth for example. He always kept his promises to y/n. She doubted him in anyway, no matter if anyone said different.
Not noticing, Garroth snuck up behind the zoned out h/c (hair color) and grabbed her shoulders. "What's up, n/n?" Y/n screamed, causing the people around the (jung)shook girl and laughing boy.
"Don't scare me like that, you buttface!" Y/n repeatedly slapped Garroth's arm. "Ow-Ow! Okay, okay. I'm sorry! I won't do it again! Just please... HAVE MERCY!" She stopped in satisfaction that he begged for mercy from her of all people. "That you're a scaredy cat." Y/n glared up at smug-looking British blond and smacked him upside his head.
"Maybe that'll teach you a lesson this time."
Garroth rubbed his head in pain and muttered, "Fine... for now." Luckily y/n didn't hear him and just turned around and continued her walk to the cafeteria, Garroth trailing behind her.
"So what were you thinking about that made you zone out for five minutes?" Y/n didn't expect a question like that to come out of his mouth. Garroth noticed the unusual silence and saddened eyes from his best gal friend. "Y/n?"
The teen looked up in response. "Yes?"
"What really happened during the weekend?"
Now that was what made y/n stop walking. She looked down at the ground for a second, then looked up at Garroth and gave him a fake smile. "Nothing. I had fun."
Garroth could see through that mask of the h/c girl. His whole happy demeanor turned into a serious one.
He grabbed y/n's hand and walked out of the school and to the bleachers by the soccer field. He stopped and turned around, pulling y/n into his chest and held her. The girl was surprised with how Garroth was acting.
"Tell me what happened."
It took y/n a moment to come to her senses and told him. "They did it again." Garroth tightened the hug and buried his face into her shoulder.
He knew exactly what she meant. This has always happened to the girl he cared about. The cycle never stops: Y/n's parents promise her something. She gets happy. Her parents break the promise. She can't escape the loophole she's in.
"Don't listen to them. Just believe in other people who care about you. Believe in me. I promise to keep my promises, no matter what. I will continue to give you hope, because.... I love you."
Y/n was so happy that the guy she's liked for so long liked her back. Not only that, but she's so happy Garroth is going to continue to give her hope and keep his promises from now on.
Y/n smiled and hugged him from the waist and thanked him, "I love you, too."
Garroth broke the hug and looked into the h/c's eyes. He leaned in- as did she- and kissed her. Y/n wrapped her arms around his neck (idk but that one sentence made me uncomfortable to write xD) and his hands rested on her hips.
They broke away and hugged again, but it was longer.
"I will never let you down, y/n. I promise."
That's when she realized more that Garroth is a man of his word. He's never going to give y/n false hope like her parents did. He's going to keep his promises he makes to her, because he loves her.
"Thank you, Garroth. You have no idea how much this means to me. I promise to keep my promises I make to you, as well. I love you."
The new couple smiled at the promises they made to each other. They know they are going to stick together for a long time.
"I love you... Scaredy Cat."
"Seriously?!"
