Chapter One: Awkward reunion

"Are you even listening?"
I stop looking at the sky and look at Iwabe. I must've zoned out again. "Yeah,the school tournament right?" Iwabe nods. "You gonna try again this year?" He asks. I shake my head.
We were walking home after school and Iwabe was being as lively as ever.
He was whistling,glancing back at cute girls,anything to keep himself occupied at this point. He was always full of energy. Me on the other hand,always looked for a way not to be the center of attention. Its was an odd friendship that actually works.
"So,any plans?" I hear Iwabe ask. "If not we can head to the arcade." I shake my head "Vince is coming back remember?" Vince was an old friend of mine who attended school outside of the country. He always stopped by in the spring. "Aw" I hear Iwabe say. "Next time?" I ask. He smiles and nods. "Next time"
The sun was starting to set as I made it home. I shut the door and toss my keys onto the table. Gramps must've went out with Vince to eat,and forgot me. "That old coot" I mutter as I slip off my shoes. I walk down the hallway to my room and notice the door was open,light on. The hell? I thought as I peep into the doorway. Some girl was sitting on my bed, looking through my collection of books. She had silver hair and tan skin,black and red clothing on. She's like a female version of Vince,I thought. "You can stop peeping in the doorway and come in."
I look at her again and realize she was staring directly at me. I could feel the embarrassment creeping up from my face as I step into the room. She puts my book down and stands up.
This is so awkward,I come home and find some stranger in my home. She couldn't be a robber,that much was for sure. "Ummm who are you?"
She gives me a quick up and down.
"The name's Sice,the real question is who are you?" She must have came with Vince.no doubt about it. "My name is Erik,Gramps took me in if that's what you're wondering" I reply. "I suppose you came with Vince?" A sudden realization comes across her face. "Ohhhh" she says. "You must be the one Gramps talks about from time to time! Im sorry about being rude to you!" She smiles and holds out her hand for me to shake. I take her hand and shake it.
"I see you two are getting along nicely" says a familiar voice behind me. I turn around and look at the doorway. "Vince" I say as a smile plasters itself on my face. I hear a faint sound of the door shutting,him and Gramps went out like I guessed. Vince smiles back. He hasn't changed much last time I saw him,same silver hair,one eye gray and the other one blue. He was wearing black,as usual.
"I see you've met my cousin,Sice"
Sice comes up next to me and looks at Vince. "He's super awkward but I can live with it." She steps past Vince and goes into the kitchen. I give Vince a confused look and he mouths "I'll explain later." He then goes into the kitchen. Confused, I set my bag down and follow them.

"Took your asses long enough,thought I was gonna die of old age waiting on you three." I sit at the table and look at Gramps. Sice and Vince were also at the table both gazing intently at Gramps. I glance at all three of them. "Might I ask what this is all about?" Im normally not one to speak up,but some thing seemed off. Gramps is normally talkative and Vince isn't looking as calm as he normally is. Even Sice looked a bit upset. Gramps was the first to speak up. "Sice is gonna be staying with us." I knew there was more to the story than just that. There wouldn't be so much doom and gloom over someone staying with us. Seeing everyone looked distressed at me,I decided not to pry.
"Cool"
"No objections?"
"Why would I have one? Its your house"
Immediately,the tension is gone as all three of them started laughing.
"

Still as sharp as ever" Vince said.
"Meaning?"
Gramps stops laughing and holds his side. "I could tell you were trying to figure out what was going on,I was trying to show Sice how easy it was for you to pick up on things." Odd. But I'll roll with it. It wouldn't be the first time he's done something weird. One time he work me up at two in the morning and gave me a math quiz.
I shrug as embarrassment shows on my face. "Well um thanks I guess? Was all I could say. "But in all seriousness,Sice is staying" Vince said.
"Cool" I reply as I get up from the table. Sice mouths a "Thank you" in my direction and smiles. I smile back and look at Gramps. "Gonna head to bed." All three of them say goodnight to me as I make my way to my room and change. I crawl in bed and the minute my head hits the pillow, Im asleep.
