I'd been at the school for four days now, and the party planning club had been working their asses off. We'd decided on where the party would be, in the gym, how it would be decorated, when it is, and how much everything cost.

Now we had to make it.

"Okay everyone!" Ora called! "Pair up! I'm with Mae, since we live so close together," she smiled at Mae an gave her shoulder an affectionate squeeze.

Amira and Irene pretty much grabbed each other as soon as the words 'pair up,' left Ora's mouth, which left me with..

Adelia.

I turned to her and smiled nervously, "guess we're partners, huh," I said, laughing slightly.

"Mhm," I had barely heard her voice in the past three days, she didn't seem to talk.

"Okay, Mae and I will be making posters, Amira and Irene, you guys should bake, have everything ready for tomorrow night! Adelia, Victoria, you guys are on decorations, I've talked to the principal and we all get to skip the afternoon to set everything up, okay?" Ora asked, smiling bright. Everyone nodded.

"Awesome! We should start later tonight, so make plans!"

Adelia turned to me, dull eyes suddenly sharp. She seemed to twitch and her nostrils flared. "My house, after school. I can drive you over. You should probably stay the night so we have time to make everything." Her voice was soft but firm, like she was trying not to yell at me. It seemed like she really didn't like me.

"Sure, I'll text my mom." I said, voice wavering.

I pulled out my phone,

One new message from-
Ava

Hey, wanna sleep over
tonight? It was fun
hanging out with you
on Tuesday I was thinking
we could do something
like that again!

I can't, sorry, I'm
at Adelia's house making
decorations for the
party. I'll see you there
tomorrow though, right?

I texted Ava back before messaging my mom.

I'm going to stay at
a friend's house tonight,
planning for back to
school party!

I turned off my phone and looked back at Adelia, smiling.

"Ready?" I asked.

She nodded and beckoned for me to follow her. She lead me down all five flights of stairs quickly. When we made it down I was breathing heavily, but she seemed perfectly fine. She looked back at me and gave a curt smile before continuing to the parking lot. There were still a few cars from other clubs and their members.

She lead me over to a beautiful black '67 Chevy impala, opening the passenger door for me, before getting into the drivers seat. I buckled my seat belt, turning to her, and noticed she didn't do the same.

"You should-"

"No." She cut me off.

I turned to face ahead and she pulled out onto the road. She went twenty kilometres above the speed limit. We'd been driving for thirty minutes and were outside the city now.
