She paced back and forth, everyone was gone. Only I stood by her side. She stopped her pacing, and sat on a mossy rock. A tear strolled down her face. She's just a girl, a little girl who's out lived most of the Earth. She's a goddess who's taken form of a child, and she's decided to act like one.
"Lady Artemis, don't fret. They'll be back," I comforted her, rubbing her back.
She buried her face in her palms and I heard small sobs. She raised her face and turned to me, with a silver fire in her eyes.
"They're gone. That bitch, Aphrodite. It was her, I can feel the essence of love in the air," she paused and began again, "if she can't make me fall in love, she can go for my hunters,"
"Lady Artemis, if this was the work of Aphrodite, why haven't I fallen in love?"
She ignored my question and stood. I folowed her. As always, like everyone else always did.
The forest was lush and dense. No game in sight and no sign of the other hunters. I continued to follow Artemis until we stopped at a clearing. She stared at the sun with a cold, angry look in her eyes. It only took seconds for her brother to come down in his chariot of fire. Artemis and Apollo always had a relationship that reminded me of a relationship on television.
He came off of his chariot and embraced his sister, "Where're your girls?"
Artemis pulled back from the hug, "I don't know, I was just about to ask you,"
She turned to me as if I was keeping something from her, as if I knew where the others had gone. I looked down and curled my blonde hair with my finger, in order to avoid her stare. Apollo grabbed a hold of her and spoke into her ear.
She sprang back, "You are psychotic, brother! We are not going to be a hunting duo! We are not those absurd heroes in tights that the mortals use in fiction,"
Apollo pouted cutely, "Well you're no fun," He leaned against his chariot cooly.
I couldn't help to admire his handsomeness. My icey blue eyes were melted by his charming charisma and appearance. He winked at me, and it felt as if he put me in a trance. I was in a daze, that is, until Artemis snapped me out of it.
"Hanna! Would you please cease your admiring of my brother?" she slapped Apollo and spoke to him softly in a grunted voice,"I'm telling you, I can feel her love magic. Did you not see her fall for your appearance almost instantly?!"
Apollo turned to me and winked, "well I can't help my good looks. She is awfully pretty," his eyes were warm, and it felt as if he was staring into my soul. "Who's your mother or father, Aphrodite? Eros?"
I blushed. My mother was Aphrodite, I couldn't tell if my mother had spoke of my on Olympus, or he was trying to charm me.
Artemis snapped at him, "Apollo! She is the last of my hunters! If you continue to flatter her, I'll have no one left,"
Apollo shrugged and I was brought back by his question about my mother. My mother was greatly displeased with my joining of the hunt. I disappointed her, just like I'm disappointed Artemis.
"Lady Artemis, I'm greatly sorry. I can assure you I have no intent on leaving your side," I made sure not to say I was going to leave a hunt that no longer existed.
Artemis looked at me with a glimmer of hope in her eyes, then turned to Apollo, "Well brother, since it is only Hanna and I now," she sighed, "if you would like, you could enjoy the pleasure of being by my side and hunting with us. However, if we come across any potential hunters, you shall speak no words," Artemis looked at Apollo reassuringly.
Apollo nodded in agreement and Apollo hopped in his chariot and hit the side of it with his hand, motioning us in. Artemis and I entered the chariot and Apollo whipped the reigns.
