PRESENT DAY:

“Tate wake up, it’s time for school.” I said through his bedroom door. It’s Monday morning, we are getting back into the routine of things.

“Ok I will be out in a minute.” Tate said.

I walked into the kitchen to see my twin already drinking his morning cup of Joe. And right next to him is a cup just for me. He really is a great brother, I thought to myself.

“Thanks I think I’m a pretty damn good brother too.” Tyler said boastfully.

“Stupid mind link.” I said under my breath. “But all in all you are amazing Tyler, I don’t know what I would do without you.” Now you may find this overly mushy and weird that I am saying this to my brothers and not fighting with them, but it’s just how we are. We have to be there for each other and pick each other up.

“You are the great sister as well. Now sit down and drink your coffee.”

“Yes Sir.” I gave him a salute and sank down into the chair. We sat in silence and waited for Tate to come in and eat his breakfast. It’s the first day of his junior year, which would make it Tyler and I’s senior year. I would like to go back to school, but I just don’t have the time or the money. Tate walks in and shakes me away from those thoughts. I smiled.

“Morning.” Tate said with a big smile on his face.

“Good Morning bud.” Tyler smiled and ruffled Tate’s hair.

“Morning, are you ready for your first day of junior year scout?” I asked him curiously.

“Yeah I am, I’m actually pretty excited!” I love it when I get to see my little brother smile. He always is down on himself. Ever since he found out the mom died giving birth to him, he has been upset and moody. Just seeing him smile, makes me happier than I would have ever imagined.

“Hey Ty, Tal?”

“Yeah?” Tyler and I said simultaneously.

“Why don’t you ever go to school? I mean you could get better jobs, and we wouldn’t have to worry as much.” Tate said with sadness in his eyes.

“Buddy we would, but…” Ty said but then stopped to think.

“You see you don’t even have a reason not to go to school.”

“Yeah I guess your right isn’t he Ty.” I asked my twin. We looked at each other and knew what we had to do. Tate was a rouge so he might be put into danger. This is our first year here in San Diego, and we have never been to the school to know if there are rival packs there. If there are they could easily kill us. Tyler and I mind linked each other.

“I think we should do this to keep Tate safe.” I said

“I agree.” Just like that our decision was made. Tyler and I were going to high school.
