Contrary to popular stereotypes, summer is a very stressful time of year. People stress about booking flights, they stress about packing, hotel rooms, the weather, and practically everything else before you're able to relax.
The case was no different to the residents of Willowswood, Nevada. The adults of the damn place had to stress over every single tiny detail, while the teenagers got to laze around and party for the entire summer. It happened every summer, and this one was certainly no different. Kallie Morris' parents had been running around like headless chickens making sure their daughter's end-of-summer beach resort vacation was going to go swimmingly. Not to please their little girl, no. They wanted her out of the house as soon as humanly possible.
So that's exactly where she was. Out of the house, at a resort by the beach, just outside of Willowswood. Her and 16 of her friends. A lot of people who cared quite a bit about her. As a queen, she needed a lot of followers.
16 friends, and yet she was sitting on the pier, clad in a white sundress with a red swimsuit peeking out of the straps and a floppy hat, as her legs dangled over the edge and she flipped through the pictures on her phone. 16 friends, and yet she was alone and she didn't mind all too much.
Kallie took a deep breath, softly smiling as she switched back to the camera of the phone, and looked through the lens of the camera and taking in the view. The crystal blue ocean, the golden sun, and sun giving out the most perfect of lighting.
"Ironic, isn't it? That the most beautiful sight is the girl behind the camera," a teasing voice called out, snapping Kallie back into reality. Cal Clark was a sight for sore eyes. Always good to see him. His eyes squinted awkwardly as the sun shone, and he sat down next to her.
"Aren't you a funny thing," Kallie retorted with a small giggle, as Cal rested his chin on her shoulder.
"Any good pics yet?"
Kallie quickly turned to his direction, zooming the camera onto Cal's face, his eyes growing wide as she did, and she snapped the photo. "Now there is." she replied in a cheeky tone before showing it to him.
"I'd delete that, if I were you. Pictures of me are the wasted kind." Cal smiled boyishly as he looked at the photo, and lifting his head off her shoulder. "And you do know it's illegal. Taking pictures without authorisation." He added jokingly, sticking his tongue out in a childish manner.
"That's a shame, because I don't follow rules. Rules include laws," she retorted, looking up to him with a smirk. "And whoever said that your face is the wasted kind was probably drunk," she said with a smile, before leaning her head on his shoulder. "Either drunk, or incredibly stupid. I'd punish them if you ask me to."
