Frank swiped a grape off of Joe's overflowing plate. "Hey!" his kid brother yelled.
"For a detective," Frank replied, tossing the grape into the air. "You're really not all that observant." The grape fell perfectly into his mouth. "That was the fifth I've stolen."
"We're on vacation. I intend to relax, something we rarely get to do anymore." Joe rolled his eyes. "I wonder where Dad is..."
"And Nancy," Frank added, glancing around the breakfast hall. Tired eyes and morning sighs filled the room along with the smell of sizzling bacon, scrambled eggs, and maple syrup. Amongst the yawns, however, was excited talk of the day's upcoming events.
"Seeing the Brooklyn Bridge should be pretty neat," Frank said. "Dad said we've seen it before, when we were kids, I just don't remember."
"Me neither, the whole trip is a blur... Hey, Nancy!"
Joe waved as Nancy approached their table, but her eyes were searching the room. "I've got a lot to tell you," she said excitedly.
Frank grinned. "What have you been up to?" Nancy was always at her happiest while advancing in a case. A fire could easily be seen burning inside her that hungered for more. It was a true passion for Nancy, solving a mystery.
She glanced around again, then laid her mischievous, yet dark eyes upon him. "I'll tell you in private, maybe on the bus."
"You look tired, you should eat something."
"Give me one second," Nancy responded, walking away. Soon, she was approaching the blonde girl she had met at dinner the night before.
"She never stops surprising you, does she?" Frank asked, mainly to himself as his eyes trailed her.
"Dude, you need to start taking action," Joe said.
"What?"
"Here we go," Joe groaned. "The denial. Frank, you obviously like her."
He looked away. "I never said that."
"You didn't have to, you walked back into our room last night like you were on another planet. A planet where you were alone with Nancy in a be-"
"Shut up, Joe," Frank said, fighting to stop his reddening face.
"Look, all I'm saying is," he replied, standing. "You have this week to make a move and the clock is only ticking forward."
His brother left him, leaving Frank at the table alone with his thoughts when Nancy returned. "I may have just found the next clue to Alvin Brixton's puzzle."
"Really?" Frank sat up. "How?"
"A little bit of snooping... and a friend." She looked back at the blonde, the two sharing a small smile between themselves.
"Who's that?"
"Kelsey Jones. She is a private investigator participating in the convention."
"Do you think she has a boyfriend?" Joe suddenly asked, returning with another plate of food.
Nancy answered, "You'll have to ask her yourself."
"I might just do that, since we all are spending one full week together," Joe said, eyeing his brother. Frank frowned.
Minutes later, the busses had arrived and the boarding had begun. "Where's your father?" Nancy asked.
"That's what we were wondering," Frank replied. "I'll call him."
"Don't bother," Joe said. "He's coming."
Fenton soon approached the trio. "I made it!"
"Where have you been?" Joe asked.
