She stared out the window as the soft afternoon light casted a glow over her; changing her chestnut colored hair into gold. Her hand was moulded under her cheek as the warm spring breeze blew in, the cool air making her shiver. The classroom in the afternoon was eerily empty as the reminiscence of students lingered in the air. Her eyes were focused on the black haired boy outside on the field playing soccer with his friends. His name was tucked carefully in the back of her mind, Park Jimin.
The boy out on the field interested her, being one the most popular boys in school he earned a reputation for being the quiet one. No one ever heard him speak before; yet everyone was so attracted him. She had "talked" to Jimin a couple of times before, placing her deep in the classmate zone. Many girls in school liked the way he looked, thus trying to get closer to him to date him for their benefit.
But she was different. She wanted to know what made him smile that adorable smile that made the corners of his mouth curl up. She wanted to know what made his soft brown eyes crinkle into two crescent moons. She wanted to know what he drew when he drifts off into a daydream during math class. She wanted to see his small delicate hands write intricate letters into his notebook. She wanted to hear his voice.
As the boy looked at her from the field, she whipped her head down to her textbook; cheeks burning up. Keep it together Lim Soo-ah she told herself, ugh why was I staring. In an act of trying to take her mind off of the embarrassingly stalker-ish actions she took, she started transferring notes onto her paper. A knock on the window caused her to jump up a little as she turned to face the black haired boy.
O shite.
Slowly sliding the window open she tried to hide her cheeks painted bright red from embarrassment, knowing he would probably ask her why the hell she was staring at him from the classroom. Jimin slowly pointed a chubby finger at her notebook as he smiled up at her, eyes sparkling.
"You... want to write in my notebook?"
The mop of black hair bounced up and down as he enthusiastically nodded in response to her question. Not wanting to make the boy wait, she quickly (and a bit too eagerly) swerved her notebook and pencil over to Jimin. He quickly scribbled words on the paper as his form of communication, swiftly pushing the notebook towards her when he finished.
"Do you mind if I study with you Soo-ah?" it wrote.
Jieun swiftly shook her head as she slowly moved her hands to speak to him in sign language. Of... course? Eh? Am I doing this right? Her mind questioned the focused girl who missed the excited smile Jimin gave her.
That's it Soo you need to work on your sign language- her thoughts were stopped when she realized Jimin wasn't at her window anymore. Her shoulders dropped and she softly slid the window to a shut only to turn back to a smiling Jimin sitting in front of her.
"Jesus Christ-" she yelped as she almost fell off her chair, but was helped by Jimin who grabbed her shoulder to stop her fall. She quickly flinched at the sudden contact but quickly became flustered. STUPID SOO HE'S JUST HELPING YOU GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER.
Scribbling on paper, Jimin started a conversation to get to know her in which he quickly wrote things down and slid the paper in front of her. He smiled whenever she read what he wrote softly aloud; a habit she's had since she was young. Halfway through the conversation, she blurted out what she had been thinking since the beginning.
"How do you understand what I say?"
Flashing a sad smile, Jimin wrote his answer onto the paper- now covered with words and drawings- and pushed it in front of her. So he can hear things. Just can't speak. Soo-ah thought to herself. She looked up at him and introduced herself in sign language, earning an excited and eager grin from Jimin. He started conversing in sign language, leaving Soo-ah wide-eyed and confused.
"Umm... I only know how to introduce myself" she laughed nervously, "but I can learn sign language!"
With this Jimin burst into silent laughter; doubling over himself as he clutched his stomach. Warm tears of joy fell from his eyes, touched that someone would do such a thing for him. He ruffled her hair lightly as he shook his head and mouthed a quick and hasty you don't need to. Seeing the boy so happy produced a warm feeling in her stomach as her cheeks were blotched red from Jimin's actions.
As the bell rang for the five o'clock warning Jimin helped Soo-ah pack her stuff up. Looking at Soo-ah he waved a small goodbye to her as he waddled over to his group of friends waiting for him at the end of the hallway. Still buzzing from what happened, Soo-ah quickly ran down to the library and checked out a book on sign language. Exams can wait she thought as she slid the book into her bag and walked over to her bicycle to go home.
Fuck I'm in love.

a/n: I'll try to keep this story as not cliche as possible
Okayyyyy that was the first chapter!!! From the second chapter, I'm planning to make it Soo's pov idk. This author is gonna go slap some packs on her face as she intensely studies about the Palestinian and Israeli conflict lmao.
