Maraming bagay ang hindi sapat, hindi sigurado. Akala natin kapag magpupursigi tayo ay magiging okay lang ang lahat. Kasi ang turo saatin ay kung pag-iigihan mo nang mabuti ang isang bagay na gustong-gusto mo, tiyak na makukuha mo. But that was not the case for me. I didn't got him in the end. I lost. "Dr. Buenaventura" Tawag sa akin ng katabi kong matandang investor. Kasalukuyang kami'ng nag pupulong para sa isang project proposal ng aming mga scientist.

Nang makaupo ako sa aking swivel chair ay agad kong hinilot ang aking sintido dahil sa naging palpak na meeting. Hindi naman ako perfectionist na boss pero gusto ay yung walang nasasayang na oras. Hindi dahil hindi ko sila gaanong hinihigpitan ay aabusuhin na nila ang kabaitan ko. Natuto na ako diyan.

"Doc. B, gusto niyo ho ba ng coffee or tea?" Tanong nang aking secretary na si Zia.

"Peppermint tea will do, Zia" sabi ko sa kanya.

Maya-maya ay bumukas na ang pinto nang walang pag-aalinlangan. Nakita ko'ng pumasok si Denise, ang aking bestfriend since highschool. Masaya niyang hawak-hawak ang tea tray na pangdalawahang tao na para bang may pahamak siyang dala para saakin.

I rolled my eyes at her. "Anong ginawa mo dito?"

"Well, hello to you too, my dear bestfriend in the whole wide world! I'm so glad to be in your presence too!" Bulyaw niya saakin.

"Oh common, Denise. Ano nanaman ang pinasukan mong gulo? May inaway ka naman ba?" Yes, she is a war freak, but no match for me.

"Hoy Eleanor! Hindi porket nandito ka sa teritoryo mo ay pwede ka ng mag salita nang ganyan! Kasuhan kita ng libel eh!" Here we go again.

Sinandal ko ang aking katawan sa akin upuan at sarkastikong tinawanan siya. "Tinanong ka lang, Attorney. Kung kasuhan kaya kita ng trespassing, grave threat at estafa?" Sabat ko sa kanya.

I see her scoffing ang putting both of her hands in her waist. Sasabat pa sana siya pero her response was just a mocking face. Paano kaya nakapasa sa bar exam 'tong babaeng to. Yes, she's a lawyer while I am a doctor.

"Whatever! Dami mong alam! Edi ikaw na lang sana nag law!" Childish. "Tapos ikaw mag doctor at mag double major?" Sabi ko sa kanya.

She put an "X" sign using her arm and said "Ay teeee! Wag na, keri na ditey aking prophecy. Di kaya ng brains ko ang math at science." My Gosh, sigurado na ba ako na anak mayaman ito at siya lang yung bestfriend ko? I laughed at her gay language knowing she learned it while hanging out on the karinderya outside our campus during highschool and college.

"So what brings you here?" I asked.

"Oh yeah, well, I was discussing something with legal team for project here kasi diba po Madam, kami yung partner firm na kinuha niyo para sa inyong companya." sabi niya.

I rolled my eyes and said "O, tapos?"

"Napadaan lang po ako Madam. Tsaka may chika rin kasi ako. I asked Zia if you're free at walang kameeting." She said while I am alread scanning my paper works na kinakailangang approbahan.

I reached for my tea. "So? What's your chika all about that you manage to effort going up here?"

"We're having a get-together this Saturday, buong barkada. Sama ka." She said at nahinto ako sa pagbabasa ng files at napatingin sa kanya. Actually, feeling ko hindi naman talaga ako belong sa barkada nila. They're Denise's circle of friends aside from being my bestfriend. Nasasama lang ako at welcoming naman sila. I smiled faintly at her at nag bago ang emosyon sa kanyang itsura na para bang nakuha na niya agad na ayaw kong sumama.

"Sorry D, pero baka busy ako eh." Excuses.

"Lia! Wala naman siya don eh! Ang alam ko hindi siya makakapunta, busy raw sa girl-" She stopped when she realized what she have just said.

"It's okay, D. Hindi mo naman kinakailangan pigilan ang sarili mo. We are all bound to meet each other one day." I said and then shrugged.

Yeah, he and I met through Denise. Iisa sila ng circle of friends, kaya napadalas ang pagsama ko sa kanila dahil sa kanya. Ang tanga diba? Pero okay lang naman saakin. It was no hard feelings.

"But Lia, you need a social life! Puro ka na lang experiments, patients and paperworks. What happened to my outgoing bestfriend?! Mygosh ha!" Tss. Overdramatic as ever.

"Denise, I have a social life. But Mas priority ko ang work. It's a matter of priorities."

She reached for my hand and said "Priorities mo mukha mo. E hindi ka na nga nakakalabas with us, even visit Mom in the house simula ng intinayo mo itong Orion. I'm just saying, you should live a little. Have fun."

"I had my fun, Denise. Ngayon, I am happy that I am doing well but I have a lot to prove." Sabi ko while returning my attention the papers on my desk. "And besides, I didn't necessarily and immediately turned down your offer. You know me, pag pinipilit, mas umaayaw."

"Whatever you say! I'll still text you the deets, just tell me beforehand." I said in defeat at sinandal ang kanyang likod sa upuan.

May kumatok naman door ko and Zia's head peeked out. "Excuse me, Doc. Buenaventura, I have with my the copies ng mga applicant ng bagong engineers." Zia said and I nod as approval so she walked in and inilapag niya isa-isa ang folders ng mga applicant.

Denise scanned the titles of the folders and she got one out. She is wear a shocked expression.

"What in the heavens of the world-" she said at hinablot ko folder sa kamay niya.

"Li, anong gagawin mo? Does he not know that this is your company?"

I am still looking at the folder. I was kinda frozen. I am torn. I know I said that we are all bound to meet soon. But I did not think it'd be too soon. Four years. Apat na taon simula ng lumayo ako sa kanya. Simula noong hindi ako ang pinili niya. At paulit-ulit akong pinagmukhang tanga. He chose the same old path where, he was wounded once. It's been eighyt years since I chose what I deserve. Not being able to be taken for granted. Now, I am in my own path. I didn't realize that I was meant to do foolish things just to achieve greatness. Despite of it all, I got something good in return.
