i sat down in my seat, silent. the bus was travelling rather fast, as if the driver was rushed. i mentally questioned why, but did not put too much thought into it.
i looked out of the window, thinking of nothing. i did not even bother to observe my surroundings.
then, i heard a small breath beside me.
i looked up to see the boy, who i now know as jonghyun, sitting beside me and smiling.
he said hello.
i said hello back.
he asked me what school i went to.
i told him.
he said he went there as well.
i told him that i stopped going there last year.
he asked why.
i told him that my parents pulled me out because the teachers were fed up of me not saying a word.
he laughed, and said that was a stupid reason for them to complain.
i told him that i did not say a word to anyone at school ever for the entire four years that i went there for.
he smiled and said that his brother did the same.
i asked him how old his brother was.
he said his brother would have been eleven.
i questioned his use of tense.
he explained that his brother died three years ago.
i asked him how.
he said suicide.
i frowned.
i told him that it was a coincidence.
he asked why.
i told him that my sister commit suicide three years ago and that she would be eleven.
he gasped.
i sighed.
i reluctantly told him that until we spoke for the first time, i had not said a single word to anyone in the entire world since my sister died.
he smiled.
he said he was glad that he was special.
he said i looked pretty.
he said that we should be friends.
i agreed.
we exchanged phone numbers.
i smiled.
so he smiled too.
