Chapter 9: midnight talk
"What's your favorite color?"
"Purple. You?"
"None."
We laid on Harry's car staring at the stars, sipping our drinks. The whole 15 minutes we've been here, we were asking each other random questions. And to be honest, I didn't mind. It was nice to talk to someone without distractions or interruptions.
"What's your favorite animal?" Harry asked.
"Pandas or koalas. You?" He took a minute to answer.
"Bats."
I looked over at him. "Why bats?"
"Cause they're cool." I laughed a little.
"Do you play an instrument?" I asked.
"Yeah. Guitar."
"Cool."
After a few seconds, Harry hopped off the car and made his way to the trunk, pulled something out, and came back to join me. He smiled at me as I stared at the blue guitar.
"Want me to play you something?" I nodded. He sat back on the car and started playing.
"I can also sing." I didn't answer him. I sat there watching him play with his guitar.
"Isn't she lovely. Isn't she wonderful. Isn't she precious. Less than one minute old." He sang. I sat there in shock. I thought he was kidding about the singing. His voice was beautiful.
He chuckled. "What do you think? Did I do good?"
"Did you do good? Of course you did. That was awsome." He blushed a little bit.
"I've been thinking that I should audition for the X-Factor. You've heard of it right?" I nodded.
"You would win that." I said softly. "So are you comming on Friday? To the party."
"Yeah. What are dressing up as?"
"Vampire zombie. You?"
He laughed. "Does that even make sense?" I shrugged. "I guess."
"So when was the last time you've been in a relationship?"
I froze. To tell you the truth, I don't like to think about. Or in this case talking about it. Cameron wasn't the best boyfriend. He was sweet and all when he payed attention to me, which was 5% if the day.
"About two months ago. Best thing that has ever happened to me." I answered.
"Oohhh! Tell me more."
"He was sweet- for about two weeks. Then he started to talk to me less. Less attention, less love. In those first two weeks, I thought he was the one." I let out a sigh. "Stupid of me, really. Thinking someone you only knew for a bit was the one you were going to spend the rest of your life with."
"Well, I've had that feeling. Hell, I still have that feeling. For someone beautiful, smart, funny. I've just never really told her. And I think it might be soon. Really soon." I turned to him and smiled.
"Who is it?" I asked him.
"Someone."
"Well I think that person would love to be with you." I told him softly. He nodded. After a moment, he continued to sing. It was so calming and peaceful. My eyes were fluttering shut. First slowly then all at once.
