[2] A Rocky Night

        "When are you coming back to LA?" I ask.

        "Tomorrow. At like midnight." Kate says. I sigh of relief. Ever since Maddie walked out on me and Pete, I've been super lonely. ;) if Ya know what I mean. To bad Kate and I are just friends. I wish she knew how much i liked her. She is so beautiful. "Bruno? You there?" Her voice comes through the phone.

        "Oh yeah, sorry... i got distracted" I say. She just replies with a simple 'sure ya did Mars.'

        "Well i should probably get going. Its pretty late in Hawaii time and tomorrow is my last day."

        "Yeah your right." I sigh."Sleep tight Kate." I say with a smile. She yawns.

        "Night Bruno." And with that she hangs up. I sigh, content with the moment. A smile spreads across my face as I think about Kate. Shes so beautiful.

        "Daddy?" I hear. I almost jump out of my seat it scared me so bad. I turn around to see Pete clutching his stuffed monkey with his blanket in his arms.  A few tears start slipping from his eyes.

        "Aww baby whats wrong?" I say. He runs over to me with his blanket draging on the ground. He hugs me and a few sobs escape his lips. I pull him up onto my lap and he buries his head into my chest. "Buddy, why are you so sad?"

        "I miss momma." He say, his voice shaking. My breathing hitches. Hes too young to unIderstand. Is all that runs through my mind. I really don't want my son to be growing up without a mother. I couldn't even imagine my childhood without mine. She had such an impact on my life and he will never have that. He wasn't planned. He was an accident. And that was the reason Maddie, his mother, decided to leave. After about a two years of taking care of him with me she decided that it was just to much to handle, so she left. I like having Kate around because she is kind of like a mother figure to him and that's what he needs. But i wouldn't change it for the world. I love him way too much. Hes my sidekick, my partner in crime.

        "I know baby." I kiss his forehead "Its gonna be ok. Alright?" He nods as his crying slowly comes to a hault. "Hey! Guess what?" i say trying to boost his spirits a little.

        "What?" He asks lifting his head his bright blue eyes meeting mine.

        "Tomorrow night, Kate's coming back!" I say with excitement.Happiness fills his eyes as he smiles wide, his dimples showing. Hes too cute.

        "Really?" I nod smiling wide. "Yay! She said that when she come back she take me to see Transformers." I laugh at his is silliness.

        "That sounds fun." I smile contently. We fall back into a comfortable silence, the only noise being the soft back round music to my paused game of NBA Jam. I look down at Pete to see him yawning and starting to close his eyes. "Tired buddy?" I ask, he doesn't reply. "Ill take that as a yes." I say getting up off the sofa with Pete in my arms. I turn off the TV and started walking down the hallway towards Pete's room. I set him down on the bed as gently as i can.  I kissed him on the forehead and started to walk out of his room.

        "Daddy?" He says. Turn around looking at him to see him sitting up in his bed hugging his monkey.

        "Yeah buddy?'

        "Can I sleep with you?" He asks, his blue eyes staring at me. His eyes are just like his moms. I shake the thought.

        "Why not?"  He smiles and trots over to me. I pick him up in my arms and he lays his head in my chest. We walk to my bedroom and i get us under the covers. I hug him tight and close my eyes. "Goodnight buddy."

        "Night daddy."

how are you guys liking it so far?

i know that Petes dialogue is probably a little bit more advanced than your average 3 year old but im not too good at it :/
