Jupiter City High
4:30 pm, Monday
Jake Miguel has no idea of what he is going to do.
In his hand was a tiny, 2 GB memory card, dark blue in color and its brand's sticker peeled off. He was just sitting on a waiting bench outside the school campus, waiting for his brother. Then he saw the SD card on the ground, casually lying there. Normally he would ignore lost items he see and wait for someone else to pick it up. But something within him made him pick the card up and investigate who owns it.
"Where is that duweeb?" Jake was stomping his feet impatiently. Then it strucked him. "Math tutorial."
He remembered that his brother won't leave school until it was 5:30. At some times, they would extend up to 6 in the evening. "Might as well ask whoever own this SD card before going to Pheonix's school." Jake got up and carried his backpack. Who knows how long he would be walking around, asking random students and even teacher if they own a mysterious SD card or not. It's at least better to start walking around asking than waiting for someone to be like 'Hey, you're that dude who got my SD. Can I have it back?', or something like that. Jake started walking around, from the inside of the campus, up to the old couple's convinient store and eatery outside the school. He asked every single person he meets. Most of them would shook their heads. Other looked at him as if he was crazy, asking every single person he meets if they own a memory card, since not every day would you get a sane (yes, he still claims he is sane) 15 years old guy walking around, asking strangers if they own a memory card or not.
After what seems to be an eternity, which is actually just 25 minutes, Jake sat back on the same bench he found the SD card. His feet were killing him and he wish that his parents won't be that too cheap in gasoline so they can at least drop and pick them up from school. But since their house is just a few blocks away, they must have thought it would be best for them to just walk to school every day, except when it is raining, then they will drop the pair to their respective school.
"If only their math tutorial would suddenly end soon," Jake was on the edge of boredom when he heard a familiar voice. "Bro, I was looking for you!"
Jake quikly looked up and saw his little brother in front of him. "Pheonix..! But, how long have you've been let out of your school?" "20 minutes ago." Jake felt a surge of panic and started inspecting his brother like an overprotective mother. "You could have been hurt! You know the last time I almost lost you in the high school campus, I found you being bullied by those 9th graders at the canteen." Phoenix pouted. "I was a 1st grader when they did that," Phoenix shock his arms and pulled away from his brother. "Besides, I only looked for you in the high school buildings, I don't go to the oval or gymnasium."
Jake was about to speak, but he shut his mouth instead. "Come on, let's just go home."
...
It was when they were blocks away from the campus when Jake remembered he still has the SD card in his breat pocket. I knew I should've left it on the bench. It was getting dark, as if it was going to rain. Phoenix felt as if there are small droplets on his skins. "It's about to rain, brother," he whispered. Jake stiffened a sigh before they continued walking, then it turned into a jog, and very soon they were running, with their backpacks as umbrellas.
I'll think of something on what to do with this SD card. Jake thought to himself. The rain continued to fall until they had reached home.
