WANG ZIYI X CAI XUKUN (FT. QIAN ZHENGHAO)

ANGST & FLUFF

SOMETIMES IT ALMOST GOT ANNOYING for zhenghao to have two overly affectionate dads — who would keep pinching his soft cheeks once every minute and keep on ruffling his hair while calling him he's cute.

currently he was sitting on the backseat of their car while his cool BOOGIE dad wang ziyi was blasting his so-called cool music and ruffling his hair — which got pretty annoying for zhenghao already.

"UGH DAD !" the 17-year-old protested, jerking off his head as he crossed his arms over his chest in a crisscross manner like a 4-year-old toddler.

"what happened, haohao?" ziyi asked in a soft tone, thinking why zhenghao just did that.

"how many times do i have to tell you to not ruffle my hair like that? my hair gets all messy." he replied while fixing his hair.

"you look cute like that, haohao." xukun said from the front seat as he pulled the car into the parking lot. ziyi nodded, agreeing with what his husband has just said. sighing, zhenghao shook his head as he grabbed his backpack.

"goodbye dad !" he spoke softly as he got down from the car — shooting both of his dads a small smile. "GOODBYE HAOHAO ! JIAYOU !!" both ziyi and xukun said in unison — making him blush as he ran off to the school.

the school bell had already rang so he had to fasten up his speed. "you're almost there, zhenghao !" he told to himself as he entered into the classroom within a short time — shakily breathing as he took his seat.

he gave him some time to compose himself — leaning backwards against the chair. his eyes were wandering around the other students who were currently gossiping and giving him odd looks.

it's okay since he doesn't have any friends.

and everyone hates him anyway.

a sigh escaped from his lips as he brought out his history notebook from his backpack — leaving it on the table, trying to ignore all the negative comments which were being thrown at him and his dads.

"hey, have you seen that qian zhenghao guy? he is weird. isn't he?"

"zhenghao's dads are gay, you know."

"his dads bring him to the school like elementary school kids you know..."

"what a lame guy..."

zhenghao tried his very best to resist those comments with a smile on his face but he failed and unknowingly, tears started to roll down from his eyes as he buried his head down on his arms. his classmates — instead of showing sympathy to him, now started to laugh at him even more, the comments being crueler than before.

"hah look, he's crying now...."

"he is definitely the lame guy...."

zhenghao couldn't resist them anymore — all those words are too harsh for him to hear. he wanted them to stop completely and wanted the teacher to enter so that she could save him, like she always did.

maybe god heard his prayers since the teacher entered into the room — making all those people quiet as they sat down on their respective seats.

from the start of the school 'till the end, he remained awfully quiet. he didn't even eat his lunch which xukun cooked for him today.

"what happened, haohao?" ziyi asked as he climbed inside the car — noticing that something didn't look right about him. "nothing..." zhenghao answered, closing the car's door as he placed his backpack on the passenger seat.

"something has happened and you're not telling it to us." xukun spoke from the driver's seat, eyeing him through the rear-view mirror — trying to smile to cheer him up a little bit. "I SAID NOTHING HAS HAPPENED !" he protested, looking down.

suddenly the whole atmosphere inside the car went quiet. none of them dared to utter any word.

"zhenghao, what happened?" ziyi broke the silence after a few minutes as he placed his hand on his shoulder — trying to comfort him. "tell us, haohao. we can help you." xukun said, giving him a soft smile.

to both of their surprise, zhenghao suddenly broke down into tears as he mouthed a small 'sorry'. "i'm so sorry for behaving like that. i didn't know what to do." the small boy told his fathers.

"hey, it's okay." ziyi softly spoke, ruffling his hair.

"it's okay if you are not feeling comfortable to share it with us, haohao. we'll give you some time." xukun said, parking the car in front of their house, "just we want to know one thing — did something happen at your school?"

zhenghao nodded, not daring to tell what happened since it can hurt both of them. "they called you gays, in a negative way." he finally said it, expecting them to be hurt when he looks up at their faces — but to his surprise, it didn't even affect them.

"it's okay, haohao." xukun said, smiling. ziyi nodded, fondly looking at his husband.

"there are always some toxic people in this world who would see things in a negative way and make fun out of it." ziyi said, "and as for us, it's pretty normal. since no one liked and accepted our relationship when we came out. even we heard various negative things when we said that you are our son."

"really?" zhenghao said, wiping his tears — earning nods from his fathers in reply.

"we'll talk to the headmistress of your school tomorrow and try to fix up this issue. if you want, we can switch your schools." xukun said, smiling.

"and for now, just wipe your tears and get ready because we're doing a movie marathon tonight." ziyi said, pinching his soft cheeks affectionately.

zhenghao smiled, nodding as he laughed it off.

honestly, no matter how annoying his dads can get — they are still the best dads he could ever ask for.
