Baby, I Want True Love

I never cared too much for love.

It was all a bunch of mush.

That, I just did not want.

I remember all their names, why they liked me, why I liked them, why I dumped them, and why they dumped me. Love, it certainly wasn't waiting for me anytime in this life. Or was it? Damn my mind, constantly going back and forth between thoughts.

"Haley," a voice called across the lawn. It was my old neighbor, back from North Carolina for the day and he came to see me. Along with him, my friend Austin was here as well. Just me and the guys, chilling for the day. Mason had Austin's little brother over, and Garrett had one of his friends over. Like I said, just me and all the guys chilling.

I yawned, stretched, and stood up to greet my friend. I gave him a hug, and he put his longboard down on the concrete. "Check it out, one of the newest models, pretty cool huh?"

I smiled, my new brace-less smile, "Yeah, neat. Can you do any tricks?" He just smiled, and proceeded to do tricks up and down the concrete near the pool. Austin popped up, and shot him with a watergun. He got distracted, and kind of tripped right off the board.

"Better watch where you skate!" Austin called from the pool. I rolled my eyes, he always acts like this if Alan or Mason were around, he'd mess with them and tease them. Mason stood up, picking at a scab on his elbow.

I turned to him, "You okay?"

He just smiled, "Yeah, I brought my swimtrunks."

"You know where the bathroom is, go ahead and change." He thanked me, and ran back to his car where his mom and my mom were talking. I slipped the oversized t-shirt off and then my hand-me-down shorts from an old friend. Adjusting the straps of my fish-patterned bikini, I jumped into the pool, not making a very big splash.

Garrett was floating on a raft nearby, sunglasses on and soda in hand, "I give it a three."

"Four," Jordan, Garrett's friend, yelled from his raft. I rolled my eyes, Garrett's friend was nicer than him. Mason (my brother) and Parker (Austin's brother) were taking turns being thrown into the pool. I laughed as Mason squealed while flying through the air.

"You gotta be strong to move him." I pointed out, knowing that Mason was much different in size and weight than Parker.

Austin flexed his "muscles" and kissed them, "Takes guns like these."

"Or, guns like these." I flexed my muscles, which now showed due to the boxing and such. Austin looked embarrassed, and just threw Parker in without any care. Mason, my old neighbor, ran back out. As if they couldn't be in the same place at the same time, Mason and Parker ran inside, no doubt to play video games. Mason did a cannonball right into the pool, splashing me, Garrett, and Jordan. Austin dove in as well, splashing all of us. They are such show offs.
