Chapter 1 (Davesprites POV)

Your name is Dave and... well you feel stuck. No scratch that, you really are stuck, and apparently waking up in a drunken stupor. Perfect.

Your eyes flutter open only for you to clench them closed again. Its to damn bright. Opening your eyes again, you look around and try to figure out where you are. Apparently your stuck between a rock and a hard place. Literally. Your back is wedged against a fence while a rock sits in front of you, pushing your legs to your chest. It looks like your outside but you doubt that until you look closer at your surroundings. Your in somebody's backyard. You try to wiggle free but it's not working and instead you try pushing on the rock with your feet. After minutes of pushing the rock it finally moves and you do to. Falling to your side with a loud thud you notice there's orange paint and orange feathers everywhere. Great, another stupid prank by those uncool assholes. You stand up and look down at yourself, finally starting to feel the gooey orange paint. You'll definitely need a shower later. Luckily no-one had taken your shirt off. There would've been hell to pay for that. You make your way to what looks like a patio and slip inside the half open glass door.

People are passed out everywhere and you nearly trip on a few. You take a deep breath and almost gag at the smell of piss, it's obviously close but you can't tell exactly where or who it's coming from. Just as you expected, there's Karkat Vantas with his hand in a bowl of used-to-be warm water and there's a dark spot on his pants. He would never hear the end of that.

Moving on, you go into the kitchen and see your friend Dave Strider, the ironic party king, passed out on the table. There's also his little sidekick, John Egbert, half awake with his back on the counter and his legs in the air. You laugh and he turns slightly, causing him to move and come crashing down in a drunken heap on the floor. Sighing, you walk over to him and help him up. "Hnng... don't t-hahaha oh my god what happened to you? Your orange!" he says, his voice strained and tipsy. You shrug and turn to leave but he puts a hand on your shoulder, making you look at him. Then, to your surprise, he grabs your face and pulls you forward, forcing his mouth onto yours. You blush and moan slightly, wait what? You push him back and he just giggles. He must've thought your were Dave. Well you are but not that Dave.

You turn and hurry out of the kitchen as he lays back down on the counter, eventually passing back out. Finally, you make it to what you assume is the living room where you sit down on the surprisingly empty couch and just think. Why the hell did I ever let Hal bring me here? You knew your so called "friend" would ditch you and it wouldn't be the first time. Hal always ditched you, that cocky douche thought you should make friends. You guess your just not the friendly type.

A few bodies stir around you so you get up and walk to the front door, then try to open it without hitting somebody. After that you just go sit in your bright orange car that sticks out on the dull curb. You've got to get home but your so tired. Eh I can do it, I didn't drink *that* much. At that you start your car, pull away from the curb, and drive home. On the way, you can't stop thinking about Johns bright blue eyes and buck teeth. Why? Your not supposed to like him, he was Dave's. The other Dave's. But... the way he kissed you made butterflies appear in your stomach and you just wanted to laugh. But that kiss wasn't for you, was it? It didn't matter, you wouldn't betray Dave like that even if you weren't friends.

You arrive at your house without realizing it then get out and go inside, locking the door behind you. You remember the orange paint and hurry to the bathroom before you make a mess. Once the showers warm enough you strip and get in, enjoying the heat on your skin. It clears your head so once you get all the paint off and get out of the shower you go to your room then change and plop down onto your bed.

Its hard to recall what happened with John, even though it only happened a while ago. His lips were softer than you imagined. Not that you ever imagined what his lips felt like. Oh who were you kidding, you had a petty crush on that adorable dork, but who could blame you? Ok so, maybe not that many people liked him but you couldn't get over his nerdiness. You always did have a thing for nerds. "Whatever, the kid doesn't like me like that so what's the point? It's just a crush, I'll get over it". You keep telling yourself that but it just... just... You sigh. Thinking about him just frustrates you. But it wasn't really him. It was the fact that you couldn't have him. Only the other Dave could. At least it seemed like that.

Nobody knew you liked John and you were going to keep it that way. Rumors spread quickly and if anyone knew... if anyone knew, you were basically screwed.

"Calm down... he's not that important". You laugh softly at that, because he really was important. And that only made you madder, more frustrated. You growl and throw your orange bird plush across the room. So much for keeping calm.
