0 . stupid dinosaur

Two girls walked beside each other, Tessa with long curly, silver hair and Brooke, with straight shoulder length, dirty blonde hair. Brooke walked with slight bounce to her step, this helped her bite back the habit to walk faster than Tessa, which mildly annoyed the other girl.

  A calm silence had fallen over the best friends as they walked towards the setting sun in an empty Sam's Club parking lot, suddenly Tessa broke the silence, "Oh shit, look!" Her thin finger ended with a chipped black coated nail as she pointed to a stranded shopping cart in the distance.

"Hey! Watch it missy," Brooke laughed softly, her motherly side showing, looking in the direction Tessa once pointed. Her smile widened, her teeth straight from braces she had before she got kicked out, "A shopping cart!"

The two looked at each other and broke into a sprint, racing to get to the cart. As Tessa reached the cart first she smiled triumphantly, her love to run showing in her eyes and her dimples indenting her cheeks.

"Beat ya! That means I get the first ride in it." Her breath quick as she panted, Brooke rested her hands on her knees as she bent over panting as well. She lifts her baby blue eyes to meet Tessa's mismatched eyes, one blue and one green, a sigh coming out of her thin parted lips.

"Fine, but that's so unfair Tess." Tessa just giggled and waited patiently for her best friend to catch her breath.

Finally Brooke stood straight with a smile and took a hold of the cart, nodding for Tessa to get in. With some struggle Tessa made it in the cart comfortably, Brooke's backpack sat on her thin legs.

"Let's go!" Brooke giggled and walked towards the sidewalk, seeing as it looked smoother than the parking lot.

"Ready?" They sat stop a top a hill,

"More than ever!" Tessa beamed, and like an action movie Brooke's legs moved quickly along the sidewalk as her grip on the cart tightened, then loosened as her feet stopped sending Tessa flying down smoothly till a crack came into sight.

"Oh fuck." Tessa whispered, a smile and laugh falling from her plump lips as her fate entered her mind and became reality. "Goodbye cruel world!" She shouted just as the cart's wheel collided with the crack. Flinging the girl off course and into an ally, into a brick wall.

"Ugh, god damn dinosaur crack," Tessa grunted, looking at her now bleeding knee. Feeling eyes on her she glances up only to be meet with four pairs. One deep chocolate brown matched with tan skin, one bright emerald matched with pale skin like her own, one yellow amber matched with tan skin and the last ocean blue matched with pale skin. "Hia?"

"Hi?" The yellow amber eyed boy smiles confused. Brooke turns the corner and almost shouts, "Oh my god Tessa! Are you ok?"

"Yeah. I think," Brooke stops and looks from the four teen boys to Tessa. "I mean my knee got cut by a dinosaur other than that I'm good, but I should be asking you that, you good buddy?" Tessa laughs ignoring the shocked people in front of her and the shocked look on Brooke's face.

With the sun now almost set, it was darker out this made Brooke nervous, "Tess we should really get back home." She looks at the boys again, waving slightly.

"That's very true, umm, hi again. I'm Tessa and this is Brooke." Tessa smiles a little, the dark sun casting shadows on her face.

"Hi, I'm Ashton." The same that greeted Tessa before speaks up, "This," he motions to the blonde boy with blue eyes, "is Luke, and that's," now he points at the black and white haired boy with emerald eyes, "is Michael, and lastly," finally he points to the tan boy with brown eyes Tessa could get lost in, "this is Calum."

"Nice meeting you," Brooke smiles at Ashton, looking at Tessa, "Now can we go home?" Tessa laughs and nods.

"Maybe we'll see you guys around yeah?" Ashton smiles and nods, his dimples like Tessa's. "God damnit my pants are gonna have a blood stain on them now."

"Tess!" Brooke scolded, pulling the cart out of the alley, it was a little dented but worked fine. "Umm goodbye?" She waved, walking away towards the other side of town where the two lived on the roof of an abandoned building.

The two had made beds and makeshift a closet up there, it was like home to them, "To our humble abode!" Tessa smiled, wincing as she touched her knee.

"I'll try and see if we have some bandages when we get there," Brooke smiled at the childish girl she pushed in the cart.

"Sounds good dad." Tessa smiled at her.

"Dad?" Brooke laughed and looked at Tessa.

"Yep, your dad and I'm daddy!" Tessa and Brooke looked at each other seriously then broke out into a fit of laughter that lightened the mood around them.

Sky and I decided to remake this old book, and I'm honestly so excited so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
