Tumblr crashed. Between the invasion and arguments about personifications, Tumblr was going even more insane than usual. The fandom for the anime Hetalia was what everyone was talking about now. The fandom itself was going insane; screaming online. Half of them didn't believe it, but that didn't stop the ones who did. He supposed browsing the hell of a site was the wrong way to cope anyway.
Alex closed his laptop with a heavy sigh. He picked the newest letter from Alfred up again and read through it. Alfred's tone in his letters had always been dreary, but always rimmed in a hopeful tune. This one was different in so many ways, though- Alex wasn't sure where to start with it. There was no one subject, and his thoughts seemed everywhere. Oddly enough, he didn't talk about the invasion at all. They had gotten as far as Portsmouth, England. When they eventually reached London, Alex wasn't sure how the English would react, but anyone could tell you it would be anything but civil.
When he heard the front door open, he was in his room, just finishing packing his bag. He zipped up his bag and sat down to put his shoes on and lace them up.
"I brought dinner," Ralph called. He listened to something being put on the table before footsteps approached his room. "What are you doing?"
He looked up and saw Ralph standing at the door. "I'm going back to the states."
"Yeah, um.. That's not a good idea, mate."
He got to his feet, grabbing his bags. "Because Alfred doesn't want me to?"
"Yes," Ralph replied. "And because your arse isn't the one he's going to kick when he sees you."
"Well, I have a flight to catch in two hours." He made his way past the nation with his bags and walked to the front door, stopping to pull his jacket on and then opened the door, ready to leave.
"Wait!"
He looked back to see Ralph rushing forward. "I promised Alfred, I'd look after you." He smiled. "If you're leaving, I guess I'll have to go with you."
Alex smirked. "Isn't that a problem for you? Considering current events."
He shrugged. "Can't let a face like yours get into any trouble; international conflicts or no."
Alex's smile fell a little.
"Besides, I'm a neutral country in all of this."
"Right."
Ralph took one of Alex's bags and grabbed his keys before they both left the house.

Vermont wasn't sure what he wanted to do. On one hand, he knew what Maverick had said held truth to it, but did he really want to go against his brother? He remembered how it had been so many years ago. New York and new Hampshire hadn't always seen him as his own state, but they had stayed with him, right? Of everyone, he'd always been closest to them- even now. And yet, they were invading England now. Did he really believe in this?
Footsteps came up the stairs and down the hallway, and Vermont watched New Hampshire pass by and head to her room. He bit the inside of his lip, pushing himself off his bed and heading the same way. He stopped at the bedroom doorway, not sure how to start the conversation. Before he figured it out, she turned around, saw him and smiled.
"Hey, Nic. You want to come in?"
"Um, yeah," he said with a slight nod. He walked in and sat down on the other end of New Hampshire's bed when she motioned for him to do so.
