"Oh come on Blare, what's the harm in going in?" My best friend Alyssa pleaded with me as we stood outside a place that did palm readings and such, in old downtown Salem Massachusetts where we had decided to take a vacation together.

"You know that I don't believe in all that demons and spirits mumbo-jumbo" I sighed crossing my arms over my chest, taking a small step back from the front of the place.

The truth wasn't that I didn't believe in those things, I was just scared of them. The thought of there actually being such things as demons, evil spirits and ghosts scared the hell out of me. But the thought of people being possessed by things like that, scared me even more.

"Aw come on, it isn't all demons and spirits. Just let her read your palm or something, trust me you'll be fine" Alyssa tried to reassure me, putting her arm around my shoulder. "Please, for me" She added.

"You know what, fine. Let's go in. as you said, what's the harm" I spoke in slightly shaky voice thereafter flashing a fake smile.

"Yee, after you my fren" Alyssa smiled taking hold of the door handle and opening the door for me to walk in first.

As soon as I stepped inside a cold rush of air whipped across my face, yet there were no windows open. I gulped, getting a feeling within my stomach that something bad is going to happen. The place was lightly lit by candles, what seemed like hundreds of candles brought a sense of warmth to the air. A women in her late 60's, dressed in an old slightly raggedy green dress which looked like it came from the mid 17th century, appeared from behind some silk curtains which probably lead to a back room of some sort.

"Well hello there, how may I help two beautiful girls like yourselves" She said with a bright and cheerful smile as she continued to walk over to us.

"Um, the sign outside says you do palm readings and stuff, me and my friend would like you to read us" Alyssa spoke with confidence, as if she knew what she was getting into when in fact she had no idea of what was about to happen.

"Of course, of course come with me into the back room" The women replied, somewhat excited that she was going to read us.

She lead us into the back room, nothing but candles illuminating this part of the shop just as in the front of the place. We all sat down around a small circular table on the floor with a crystal ball sitting atop it. Just as I finished getting comfortable the smell of incents burning filled my nose, the strong smell of cinnamon making me want to sneeze and almost making me gag. Then without even saying anything the women took my hand and started examining it, feeling over every line in my hand, her eyes going wide within moments of her doing this.

"What, is there something wrong" I panicked, starring at her face as her eyes grew even wider. I could see a large amount fear within her emerald orbs.

"Child, I-I don't know how to tell you this" The woman stuttered, looking up at me with sheer terror.

"Is it bad Madam" Alyssa spoke grabbing onto my other hand, which was shaking with fear for what the Woman was about to say.

"T-this is very bad. Blare, I know that you don't believe in any of this, but that you're also very freighted by it and that's the real reason why you didn't want to come in here in the first place. I don't know how to say this, so I'm just going to say it. You are possessed by a demon, a very powerful one nonetheless"
