"I guess you wouldn't know..." I say.
"Alright...but back to the matter on hand! How do you NOT know who I am? I mean..it's a relief but still."
"I know who you are now.."
"Wait...really?"
"Yes. You are Link, the appointed Knight of Princess Zelda and when Ganon was taking over the kingdom you were getting your beauty sleep in the shrine of resurrection."
"H-How do you know all that?"
"Long story...I just need to find a way out of here!"
"Hang on...are you..an outsider?"
"Maybe?"
His eyes then widen and a smile appears on his face.
"Finally! A girl! I'm so sick of seeing men! Come, I must take you to see someone very important."
Link then turns and runs to his horse. He jumps on in one smooth movement, he then motions for me to do the same. I take a deep breath, the cracked air triggering my adrenaline as I thrust myself forward. I then as well, in one smooth movement do exactly as Link did. He smiles and then lightly whips the reins which in return the horse starts galloping. The wind rushing by me with a summers breeze. The smell of apples and fresh water fill the air as we quickly move. Eventually we come to a small village, Link stops short just outside.
"I don't like taking him in there, weird villagers am I right?" Link says.
I nod in agreement and get off the horse after him. He then leads me into the village. The huts we're small and cute, the trees a dark enchanted green, and the goddess statue cleaned to the bone. I glance around for a sign of where I am and then I notice the sign hanging above the entrance behind us as we walk. Kakiriko. Wait..is he taking me to see...
"Right in here." Link says, going up some stairs into a two story hut.
I follow him inside quietly and then that's when I see her.
"Master Link, you have returned. And who is this girl?" She asks.
"She's an outsider Impa."
"An outsider?! A girl?!"
"Yes ma'am!"
"Girl, what is your name?"
"Y-Yuna Cooper ma'am."
"Do you know where you are?"
"I'm assuming in a video game."
"You catch on well, now let me tell you the whole story."
She sits up straight and stares me in the eyes, blandness coats her eyes.
[The Land Of Legends Exosition]
Gaming is the hit thing in today's society. But not all gamers are proud to be themselves, most are afraid to tell the world of who they are. So they hide behind a gamertag. However, when someone truly special needs to be heard but however cannot, the Land of Legends is shipped to their door. They insert their favorite games and then are transported in to meet their heroes, save the world, beat the game, respon, and be awesome in the real world. Fore no one should hide their true colours.
[Finish]
"That is the true story. And each map of this game is a new level, of which you have to beat. And only the main characters will know they are in a game and you are what's known as an outsider. It's also VERY uncommon  for a girl to be here. You're actually the first girl I've ever seen."
"Thank you..so uh..where do I go for my mission?"
"Right here. Help Link and Zelda defeat Ganon."
"WHAT?!"
"It's actually not that hard. You just gotta help me get into Hyrule Castle. Sound good?" Link says from the side.
"I guess..." I sigh.
"Good. Now be off."
I nod and turn to Link who motions for me to follow him. He leads me outside and back to the brown horse.
"You can explore, I'll find you later. I'mma take him back to the stables."
I nod and smile brightly. He then gets onto the horse and gallops away. I turn a full 360, taking everything in. The bright greens of the plants, the cooling blue of the water, the pleasant grey of the mountains, and the mystic blue of the sky. A smile cracks my lips, I never thought I could be so happy. I then notice a dirt path and start strolling down it. It soon leads me to another town. I walk through passing by the shops, that's when I recognize the map. Hateno Village. I then go up the long hill to what looks like an observatory. I walk over a glowing blue stone and to the door. I knock lightly three times, at first I thought they didnt hear me, but as soon as I brought my hand up to the door to knock again a little old girl lady thing opens the door. I then stare down at her.
"Can I help you?" She asks.
"Not sure? Link told me.."
"Link?! Come in! Pop!" She cuts me off.
Pop? I follow her inside to a nice observatory area. To the right was some books and research notes and to the left was a giant stone coming down out of the ceiling to a little pedastool that had some sort of acient mark on it. She walks over to a stool and jumps on it, stand perfectly balanced on it.
"So, what did my Linky tell you?" She asks.
"Uh..to explore and look around. I came across here while I was exploring."
"I see..so what's your name? And if you don't mind me asking what are you? Your ears aren't pointed enough for a Hylian."
"M-My names Yuna..and I'm human."
"Human? My...I haven't heard of a human around here since..say, are you an outsider?"
"So I've been told.."
"Ive never met a girl outsider."
The way she says girl sends a shiver down my spine.
"As I've also been told. It's because girl gamers are discriminated against I guess..."
"How many people know you're a gamer?"
"Nobody. I use an app to make my voice sound like a man's when I play multiplayer. Even my gamertag is a man's."
"Ragekiller93... I can see."
"Huh?"
I then remember that being in a game when someone hovers their cursor over you, they can read your name.
"Right...anyways..what do you do here?"
"Well, based on my research when you load the game doesn't it ask for games you like?"
"Yes...but how did you find that out?"
"Last outsider told me. Anyways, that means you already know what I do."
"Shelika upgrades?"
She nods. I go to say something else, but just as I inhale to speak the door behind me opens and I turn to the figure of which is Link.
"Linky! Pop!"
"Hey, pop!"
Link smiles and then sees the confusion in my eyes. He chuckles and then walks up to me.
"Well, ready to go? We got a lot of people to visit before you can complete the level."
"Ready as I'll ever be I guess.."
He then looks as me unsurely. I smile brightly which reassures him and he smiles in return. We then say goodbye to Purah (which I remembered her name of course when we go to leave) and head out to the unknown...well sorta unknown. We leave Hateno Village and head north. We walk across bright green plains, past grey golden mountains, and across stoned bridges. Luckily we weren't attacked by any monsters on our way, and we were sure to avoid camps. As we walk north the sun starts to set.
"Crap.." Link stops walking.
"What is it?" I stop and look at him.
"Sun is setting..I was hoping we could get to our destination before sunset."
"Where is our destination?"
"Just further ahead."
"Then why don't we continue going? I'm good with a sword if you got any extra."
He pauses and then agrees. He opens his inventory and pulls out a lizal sheild and a broadsword. He hands them to me with care of which I then equip. He then nods and starts walking again. I follow him to this blue limestone like bridge. It was beautiful. That's when I start to piece things together but I still wasn't sure. We then start walking up a huge hill. I was about to turn the corner of the hill to keep walking up, but Link grabs me by my shoulder and pulls me back. He puts his index finger over his mouth and I then look cautiously around to corner. It was two lizards, both with lizal Shields and one had a lizal staff. I then ready my sword and shield. Link motioned me to one (of course its the one without a weapon) and he motions he'll take the other. I nod in agreement and we attack. I rush towards the lizard with my angered sword. He jumps back and blasts a water at me of which I block with my sheild. I then dodge to the side, jump up, land in front of him, and with one swift strike I thrust my sword into the lizard. He falls backwards and I thrust my sword two more times which kills the lizard. He drops his amputated tail and shield. I turn to Link who was watching me.
"Do you need these things?" I ask.
"You're a great fighter. Pleasure to work with you." He says, as he walks over and picks up the shield and tail.
"T-Thanks. You're pretty great fighter too." I smile.
He nods and starts walking up the hill again. At the top there's another blue limestone like bridge of which we cross. We then head up another hill and that's when my theory was proven true. We walk through to arched blue limestone Arch's. I look around amazed at Zora's Domain. The Zora's of different colours, sizes, and amazements fill me with wonder.
"Welcome to..." Link starts.
"Zora's Domain." I finish.
"You're a smart one." He smiles.
"So what are we doing here?"
"We're gonna talk to Sidon."
"The Zora prince?"
"Yeah...you sure know your stuff, huh?"
"S-Sorry..."
"It's fine. Come on."
We go up a grand staircase to the king's throne of which Prince Sidon sits next to.
"Link!" Sidon says, standing quickly.
"Hello Sidon. How's it been?"
"It's been amazing. Ever since you stopped divine beat Vah Ruta, life's been amazing!"
"I'm glad. Here, meet my friend Yuna Cooper."
"H-Hello." I say shyly.
"Hello Yuna Cooper. I am the Zora Prince, Sidon. What brings you to Zora's Domain?"
"Sidon...she's an outsider."
"She is?!"
"She is. Her mission for this level is to escort me to Ganon and help Zelda and I defeat Ganon. But I figured if she met all the great people who helped me, she might get through this faster."
"Why thank you for considering me great Link."
"H-He's not wrong." I say shakily.
"I see..well, Welcome to Zora's Domain! If there is anything you need let me know. Just know, with great help comes great responsibility. And it's always good to strengthen in numbers, so you're harder to take down."
"Well said Sidon." Link smiles.
"I can't take all the credit. Mipha told me that once."
"M-Mipha?" I ask, forgetting she was one of the great champion's.
"My sister." Sidon smiles.
I nod. Link then asks if I would like to rest of which I agree to. I follow him back down the grand staircase and around to the corner to the Zora inn. He purchases a bed for me of which I thank him for and then head to my inn room. Once inside I go and sit on the bed, it was plush and hard at the same time as I sat. I then lay down, and cover myself with the sea blue blankets. I then close my eyes and drift to sleep. As I sleep I feel as if I'm connected to the real world, fore I hear my mother's voice as I sleep.
"Yuna? Did you fall asleep gaming? Again with breath of the wild? I swear...if only you didn't yell at me you know what'd id do...but...it is the weekend. Goodnight my daughter."
I hear her footsteps walk away and the darkness turn to light as I slowly wake up. I yawn as I sit up and look around, rubbing my eyes. It's day already? I groggily stand up and stretch. After I finish stretching I feel refreshed and perfectly wide awake. I make my bed and head out to see Link talking to a Zora who is sculpting one of the podiums. I walk over to him just as they finish talking and Link turns to me.
"You're awake, good morning."
"Morning." I smile.
"Ready to head out?"
"Where are we headed next?"
"Gerudo town. Since you're female it's easy access for you..but for me...please don't make fun of what I have to wear.." he says sheeply.
"I won't. And isn't Gerudo town on the opposite side of the map?"
"Yeah, we're gonna teleport there. Hang on tight." He says, holding his hand out.
I nod and take his hand. He pulls me close to him, our bodies touching. He belongs to Zelda, I tell myself. He then pulls out his shelika slate and opens his map, selecting the shrine next to Gerudo Town. He selects it and our bodies start to turn blue as we levitate. I close my eyes as I see our bodies start to disappear. I grip tightly onto Link, scared for my life.
"Hey, open your eyes." He tells me.
"W-Why?" I ask shakily.
"Because we're here?"
"Huh?"
I open my eyes and look around. We had already teleported. We we're standing on blue circle in front of a shelika shrine. To the right of us stood the stone walls of Gerudo Town, of which two guards stood in front the entrance. I let go of Link and smile sheepishly.
"S-Sorry.."
"It's fine," he smiles, "let me change real quick and we can get going."
I nod and turn away from him, staring amazing at the stone walls. I still can't believe I'm in a video game. Link then walks past me motioning me for to follow. I hold in my laugh as he wears a Gerudo outfit (he's basically in drag). I follow him to the entrance of which the guards stare hard at us. I swallow hard and look down as I walk. Link passes by into the entrance, and just as I go to enter the two guards stick their staffs in front of the entrance, stopping me.
"Halt!" Says the one on the right.
"Y-Yes?" I say shakily.
"Look at me."
I nervously look at the guard.
"Hmm...you do not seem to be voe.."
"V-Voe?"
"It means man in Gerudo. Do your best to learn our language Hylian."
They then lower their weapons and let me pass. I quickly walk in and catch up to Link.
"S-Sorry.." I tell him.
"Don't be. You were nervous and they suspectd you a Voe. It's fine."
"So...you're a vo..."
"Vai." He says cutting me off.
"Vai?"
"Woman. Okay?"
I then remember the Gerudo rules and nod. He then leads me towards the palace. We walk up the stone steps and into the palace. Curtains of gold surround the throne, water pools all round the floor, more stone stairs to who knows where, and a golden throne of which a little girl sits.
"Princess." Link says, approaching.
"Hello Link. Do my guards just let in any Voe nowadays?" She teases.
"Funny Princess. Anyways, I have a friend of which could use some of Nerbosa's advice."
I then step forward and bow slightly to her.
"Please do not bow." She says amused.
I stand straight.
"S-Sorry. My name is Y-Yuna."
"Yuna...doesn't sound Hylian like. And why do you seek Nerbosa's advice?"
"Your highness, she's an outsider."
Her eyes widen and she leans forward quickly.
"She? An outsider?"
"As I've heard it's very uncommon." I say.
"Yes..indeed it is." She says leaning back.
"So, will you help?" Link asks.
She nods.
"I do not have much wisdom, however Nerbosa would tell you that a woman is the strongest species on the phase of Hyrule. That is why the Gerudo are the best." She smiles.
"Thank you." I smile.
"Yes, thank you." Link doubles.
"Oh, Link. If you are going to go to Death Mountain don't bother. Those gorons are all brute strength. And the Rita's would say something of don't let anything hold you down."
"Thank you your highness."
We nod and then turn and leave. As we leave Gerudo Town and turn to the shrine Link stays oddly silent.
"Where are we too now?" I ask.
"Where do you wish to go? Her highness wasn't wrong."
"I see...well how about...we go ahead and head to Hyrule Castle?"
"Now?" His eyes widen.
"Now. I think I'm ready. I've learned what I needed to help you. Strength in numbers, and stay strong."
"Good" he smiles, "then, off we are."
I nod and hold on tight once more. He pulls out his shelika slate and teleporting we go. I close my eyes once we start to disappear and then reopen when I feel the ground under me again. I look around and realize that we had teleported to a shrine, inside Hyrule Castle. I take a deep breath and pull out my sword and shield. I turn to Link who has already changed into his champion's tunic, and hylain pants. He readyies the Hylian Shield and the Master Sword. It beautiful glow warms my nerdling heart.
"It's beautiful..." I mutter.
"Isn't it? Come on, we can talk about the sword later. Right now, we have a mission."
"Right. Sorry. It's just..gamer and all.."
"It's fine. Now Yuna, outsider. Complete your quest and lead me to Ganon."
I nod and look around. There was a dock below us and next to us a hill of which looked like it went into a room of the castle.
"This way." I say, full of confidence.
He nods and follows me up the dirt hill and to an indent in the wall, however no door.
"Move." He says.
I step out the way and he pulls out the shelika slate. He then turns it to magnesis and then the indent glows. He pushes it forward and opens to a room. He then breaks the link and puts the slate away. I nod a thank you and head inside. It brings us into the Castle's library. I look around and see benches and some pillars and some walks ways crumbled to pieces. I then notice a staircase put together and stable enough for us to walk on. I lead Link up the stairs and around the corner. We head down a walk way. About halfway down there was hole in the walk way of where it crumbled to pieces below. Link and I swiftly jump over the Gap and keep walking. We go up another set of stairs and turn the corner into another room of which happens to be two bokolins. They jump up when seeing us and grab their weapons. I motion link to the one on the right and before I can get a response I've already rushed towards the one on the left. I raise my broadsword and thrust it into it. The bokolin drops it's weapon and I stab it again, killing it. My eyes widen however, fore with the killing strike...my broadsword breaks.
"Here." Link says behind me.
I turn and he tosses me a royal guards sword.
"Thanks." I smile.
"Where to now?"
I look around and see two hallways. A long one, and a short one. I then nod towards the long one and we head down the long hallways which then leads to some stairs the go up in a spiral. There were a few spots of which the stairs were missing, but we easily jumped over it. Once to the top we were on the outside of the castle.
"Where exactly is Ganon?" I ask.
"Up there."
Link points to the throne room. I nod and figure out the perfect route to the throne room. Got it. I motion him to follow and start towards a hill nearby.
"Watch out for Guardians.." Link warns.
I nod so he knows I acknowledged him and i keep walking, keeping my eye out. We turn to go up a hill, when a hidden guardian locked it's beam on us. Link and I then rush up the hill and inside the nearest door. The guardians beam sends an explosion our way, almost hitting Link but we made it all the way inside before it could do any real damage. We walk inside find a destroyed bedroom. I look around for an exit and to tell where I am. As I look around, with Link behind me, I find a diary. I carefully pick it up and read it a little. After the few pages I place the diary back where it was and turn to Link.
"This is Zelda's room." I tell him.
"It.. is?"
"Yes..do you need a minute?"
"No..we can continue when you're ready."
"If you're sure?"
Link nods so I stop asking and move back towards the doorway. Wait..can't we destroy those with acient arrows? If I remember correctly from the game when I played it, the guardians are weak against acient wear. I turn back to Link.
"Got any acient arrows?"
"What for?" He asks, reaching into his inventory.
"If I remember correctly, we can destroy those guardians with acient wear. And from where I'm standing an arrow is a straight shot to it's eye."
"Smart. Here you go."
He hands me a Phrenic bow and three acient arrows. I equip the bow and arrows, then lean out the door a little. I ready the bow, pulling the arrow back. I stay focused, waiting for the guardian to turn. As I draw a breath in, the guardian turns and locks on to me, seeing me. I then aim perfectly and fire an acient arrow straight into its eye, ducking behind the wall after the arrow makes contact for it send the explosion this way. After a moment or two I repeat the same. I do it once more and with that final arrow, the guardian explodes and is no more. I hand link back his bow and then start moving again. We run quickly down the path until we come to some stone stairs. We rush quickly up them to be met with two sturdy doors. This seemed to be the only part of the castle that wasnt destroyed. Ganon must be behind this door. I take a deep breath and open the door. It was the throne room. Hyrule flags surrounded the stone walls, two thrones sat at the back, a marvelous red carpet coating the stone floor. In the center of this majestic beauty, sat...Ganon. Link put his hand on my shoulder, giving me a nod when I looked at him. I turned and shut the door, staying by it as he approached Ganon. Then, a feminine voice rang through the air.
"Link...you've finally come...thank you..and..who is...this friend of yours...of which you have..brought?"
"Z-Zelda?" Links voice shakes.
"Yes..it is I..Link.."
"Wait! That's Zelda! As in Princess Zelda! It's an honor to meet you your highness. My name is Yuna Cooper, I'm a huge fan." I say fangirling.
"I see...an...outsider...thank you for bringing Link and training him..I shall bestow apon you...the key and the knowledge..." Zelda says, oddly calm.
A golden light starts to glow above Ganon, and as it starts to move towards me it is suddenly stopped by a fist grabbing it.
"Not. So. Fast." Ganon's voice booms.
"What now?" I ask frustrated, forgetting Ganon was the boss of this game.
"I'm not letting you go this easy. Beat me...and Zelda's last gift is yours!"
"Very well." Link says calmly.
"Are you sure Link?"
"I was created for this, was I not?"
I nod and he smiles. That reassures me big time. I smile in return as Link appraoches Ganon. Link then readies sword as Ganon laughs. After a few moments of tension once Ganon stops laughing, the brawl begins. Ganon rushes towards Link as Link readies and dodges the attack.
"Yuna..." Says a faint voice next to me.
I turn to the side of me to see a fairy.
"Hello?" I say to it.
"Here...this is my true gift to you.."
"Zelda?"
With that the fairy then enters me, I fall to the ground as the weird sensation covers my body.
"Yuna, are you alright?!" Link yells as he charges at Ganon.
"I'm fine! Keep Fighting!"
I then force myself to stand as the feeling disappears. I then shake my head a few times as I start to see things I didn't see before. I can see their HP...and their CP! I stop shaking my head as I realize this probably was the knowledge she was talking about. But wait...if Ganon has the ball of gift light...what other gift did I get? I look at the ball of light and then realize it was just a light spell...probably the last remaining magic of Zelda. I then stick my right hand against the wall as I go to lean against it. As I lean closer towards my hand I then notice something on my hand. I stand striaght again, pushing myself back, and look at my hand. ITS THE TRIFORCE!!! A part of me fangirls, while another is confused, and the final part wanting to help Link. I then turn to see Ganon throw Link against the wall.
"No!" I scream.
With a sudden rush of courage I wish I did have, I rushed towards Ganon and stuck out my right hand.
"Leave him alone!" I scream.
With that, a glowing light came from my hand (more or less the triforce), and blinding Ganon. He roars as he goes back by two steps. Link then forces himself up and rushes Ganon, stabbing him in his weak spot with the Mast Sword. I then take a few steps back, shocked by what I just did. Link then pulls out his Shelika slate and uses Stasis to keep Ganon from moving. Link then attacks Ganon many, many times in his weak spot. Once the Stasis wears off Ganon goes flying into the wall...defeated. Link breathes heavily as the light ball moves to the center of the room, and as the light starts to vanish a door appears in it's place.
"There...you..go.." Link pants.
"Huh?"
"That's...the door...to the...next map...thank you.."
"No, thank you."
I walk up to Link giving him a big hug. He hugs in return and then we say our goodbyes. I turn to the door, hesitating before placing my hand on the doorknob. Then, with a small push the doors open. I step through, the door and Hyrule vanishing behind me. On the side lies a dark road. I look around, stepping on to the road, trying to figure out where I am. I then see headlights coming my way, I freeze as they stop right in front of me. A man then gets out the car...his outfit looks familiar. I then, shakily turn to see a massive building to the side of me, a sign behind me.
"Ma'am..are you lost?" Asks the man.
I turn back to the man.
"Ah shit." I say half scared, half upset, and half knowing I'm screwed.
