Ella's Pov

"Hello, Lilly." I said to the little girl as I passed her room.

"Hi, Dr. Jones!" She said, waving to me. She had the biggest smile on her face.

I continued to walk down the hallway towards room 128. I hummed to the tune in my head. I couldn't quite put my finger on the name of the song, but I knew it was one of my favorites. I finally made it to the room. It was unusually quiet in this part of the hospital, my heels clicking on the floor being the only sound. I stepped in the room to find a man sitting in the chair next to the bed. I think his name was Shane.

"How is he doing?" He asked me. He looked a little nervous, but I didn't know why.

"He's doing good. He should be in a coma for another week or so. But he is healthy and he is healing quickly. He should be out of here soon." I said, smiling reassuringly. He just nodded, and rubbed his head with his hands. I walked over to replace his IV with a new one. Once I was done, I checked his blood pressure and his heart rate.

"Everything seems good. My prayers go out to you." I said, squeezing his shoulder reassuringly.

"Thanks." He mumbled. I took that as my que to leave and I exited the room to check on my many other patients.

A few hours passed and it was time for my lunch break. I walked to the lunch room by myself. Wear was Linda? I just shrugged it off and walked over to the fridge pulling out my subway sandwich. I sat by myself eating my lunch when I felt my phone vibrate. I pulled out my phone to see a text message from Aaron.

Aaron :)

Babe. I need you to leave work NOW. I will explain everything over the phone. Just leave work, it doesn't matter if anyone asks. Just say you're sick or something. This is very important that you listen to me. I will explain everything when you are in the car. Got it? Okay, hurry. I love you.

I didn't even know what to think. Why does he want me to go home? Doesn't he know I can lose my job? I guess he is in the army, so I should do what he says. So instead of debating I grabbed my lunch and headed out the doors to my car.

Once I was in the car I quickly called Aaron demanding answers.

"Aaron, what is going on?" I asked him calmly. But I really wanted to yell at him and demand him to tell me why he made me leave work.

"Okay, this is going to sound crazy.. But you know I would never lie to you, right?" He asked me. He sounded nervous and his voice was shaky.

"Baby, what is it?" I asked him. He was making me anxious. I needed to know what was going on. My head was spinning with thoughts and scenarios as to what could possibly be happening. But my mind was blank.

"Okay. Well, pretty much, line story short, the zombie apocalypse has started. I'll explain later, and  the FBI is going to go to the hospital and shoot all the sick patients. That's why I needed you out of there. We don't know what's gonna happen. Anything could go wrong and I need to know that you will be safe. Okay?" He said. I couldn't even say anything. I could barely comprehend what he was saying. Zombie apocalypse? But that was impossible. I started to cry. How could they kill everyone in the hospital? That's worse than a zombie apocalypse. That's murder. I started crying harder. I gripped the steering wheel with one hand and my phone in the other. I think Aaron could hear me crying, because he started trying to soothe me.

"Baby. Baby, what's wrong." I just kept crying. I couldn't even find words to say. My mouth was too dry to even speak.

"I know, I know. It's a lot to take in. I'll be at the house when you get there, okay? Stay strong for me. I'll see you in a little bit. I love you." He said again.
