Ambush Part 2

The first two came out the back, one had a gun, the other a big ass knife. Sam and I instantly synched through the bond so we could see what the other was seeing.

He threw a pallet at the guy with a gun, who ducked but didn't really get out of the way. I went around the guy with the knife and kicked the back door shut, Sam shot out from the pallets, carrying one and wedged it against the door. Then he spun and nailed the guy with the gun straight across the jaw.

I ignored Sam and stared at Mark, aka guy with knife who was glaring at me.

"You think you're hot shit now huh Harper?"

"Kind of."

He lunged at me, knife straight out, telegraphing his lunge for days. I waited till the last minute to hop back and lightly, for me, blocked his attack. I had to force myself not to knock his ass a mile back with a few kicks, that's what Arsenal would do. I wasn't Arsenal right now.

-This will be complicated- Wolf muttered.

-Tell me about it- I replied as a ducked another slow ass swing.

His left jab followed his right, may as well let this one hit so he feels good about himself. It barely hurt but he got this huge smirk on his face. "Not that hot shit after all."

-Oh for fuck's sake- I told Wolf. I grunted, for effect, then shot my right hook out before he even blinked and cracked him hard. I'd pulled my power so his skull didn't cave in but he staggered for a good fifteen seconds which gave me a chance to check in on Sam who was dancing around his guy. He'd already disarmed him but was acting like a huge, lumbering moose with no real skills. The guy got a little too close, Sam nailed his knee with a straight kick, the guy's leg buckled.

"Lucky shot," the guy grunted, trying to act tough while limping.

"Go over the top!" One of the others yelled and I heard scrambling over metal which made an interesting counterpoint to the sound of bodies slamming into the back door to try to open it.

"Time to put these two down?" Sam asked.

"Let one get over the top, then we can wipe the floor with these two. Give them something to think about."

"You're enjoying this a little too much."

"Hey, I've always been the smaller guy that assholes your size would pick on, let me have my moment."

He chuckled, only inside my head of course.

"I'm going to gut you," Mark mumbled, not all that convincingly.

"Quick question, how many of me are you currently seeing ?" His eyes were still kind of wide and out of focus.

"Fuck you!" He shot back, then lunged again just as a red-haired lackey hopped on top of the dumpsters.

I so wanted to make another smart ass comment, but that was too much like Arsenal, so I just grabbed the blade from his hand, buried it into his left shoulder, grabbed his right arm, kicked his legs out from under him and broke his right arm, twice.

That got him screaming a whole lot of fun cuss words.

I shoved his face in the asphalt and decked him, he went limp.

Sam's guy soared past me, his legs a few feet off the ground. Sam can get away with doing that, he's a frigging human mountain, no one would be shocked he threw a guy across the alley. Said guy's head connected with the wall and he slumped down.

Three down, five to go.

I saw a flicker of a light as a blade flew towards me, red hair lackey had some skills. I twisted right, letting it soar past me as I heard the sound of another one flying through the air. I did a quick slouch, estimating he was aiming center mass. If I got hit in the shoulder I could play it off as a minor injury, if it hit my chest that'd be a lot more complicated. A lance of pain shot up my arm, good. "Ow! Shit!" I yelled, because it did kind of hurt.
