Peonies always managed to grab her attention. He knew because it's what she demanded of him. Baskets of peonies, perfumes of peonies and of course, a house filled with peonies. It was foolish of her to think, they'd last that long; to the day where they could formally tie things together. Maybe he would've forgotten if it weren't for her playful, joy-filled, golden eyes or maybe he'd been scarred with the memories of her. But that didn't matter because the second he fell into step with her; he behaved as if they were nothing more than strangers. Who knows why, possibly because he didn't want to look back at his past with her or because he genuinely didn't know who she was anymore. The odd thing is she hadn't looked the slightest bit different other than a few aspects of her features that portrayed that she had matured. So why did Jeon Jungkook behave so foreign around her? He thought he would have escaped her but he knew he was doomed the second she sat on the train seat beside his. It just made him set the reminder- whenever on public transport that isn't an airplane; make the seat beside his occupied with a bag or a newspaper or anything. It'll ensure to keep the first loves away.
It was obvious she still hadn't noticed him nor did she seem like the type to stare at the people around her. Jungkook hoped she would remain focused on her book for the next 7 hours that they were supposed to be sat beside each other for. Why did god hate him so badly? He wasn't a frequent sinner but he wasn't a saint either, he just hoped he was a part of those few unproblematic creations out there but clearly he wasn't if he had this much attention placed upon him. That is if there truly is a god(s) out there.
Some wondered why Jeon Jungkook was so against speaking to his first love. It wasn't because he felt awkward or because he broke up with her (since she ended things with him) or because he was still in love. He just couldn't handle seeing someone who meant the world to him once upon a time, suddenly mean nothing. *It's like having a person's number saved with a hundred emojis but the second those emojis are removed, they're a whole new person who you no longer understand. If that makes sense.
Jeon Jungkook fidgeted in his seat, wanting to get up and move but he couldn't do that without bothering her. His eyes envied the free seats scattered around the train, it almost convinced him that she knew he was beside her. Then again, he knew her more than any one. If she was intrigued by someone, she would have stolen a couple hundred glances by now however she seemed anything but interested in him. If he hadn't moved on from his feelings for her, Jungkook most certainly would be hurt.
Figuring that he wasn't moving any time soon, he chose to use his time more 'efficiently'. Meaning, look at her every now and then, till he had been able to form an image of her face in his head without having to be a full on creep. In spite of that, he was still being a creep. "I'd appreciate it if you stopped staring at me," she bit at him harshly, not bothering to spare him a look.
Men like him disgusted her, she thought to herself. They just gawk at her as if she were a zoo animal and she wasn't a fan of it. "Sorry," he mumbled in a deeper voice than usual. The scent of desperation radiated off of Jungkook. "Sorry isn't enough but I shouldn't be asking of so much from scum," she threw crueller words his way. Not to forget the devil like smile that followed soon after. Suhyun shouldn't be one to assume this guy received words like hers before because of his glances, which may have been a one time thing. She could've been lenient as he might've been an innocent fella who was just crushing on her. But she didn't care; men were complicated in her eyes.
