"Maybe you will laugh when I tell you or write it off as a fairy tale. It couldn't possibly be true. I mean how could it."
All around are flowers, white, blue and purple, the sun shining down on them, blessing them with the touch of light.
A young woman lies in the flowers, enjoying the warmth of the sun while waiting for her true love. She sits up, almost as if sensing the wolf approaching. Then she sees him in through the purple flowers. The black silhouette changing from wolf to her beautiful man.
"This is a story about my mother. And it's true. Every word of it. The man she fell in love with was also a wolf."
-------------
"Back then mom was a student at a National University in Tokyo she had earned a scholarship for some of her intuition. And worked a part-time job to take care of all the rest"
The busy street buzz from all the people trying to get their destination, everyone on their phones or finishing a last minute project. But one girl stands out, in her pink sweatshirt and with her raven black hair, though that's not what makes her stand out it's the fact that she is just strolling around, calm and collected.
She turns up the street to the University she goes to and walks to her class room. She takes notes in her text book, trying to write down everything that the teacher says. Not many people are in her class and even fewer are paying attention.
"One early summer day, she noticed a young man, she had never seen before. He wore a plain white shirt with a stretched out collar. Though he didn't seem to have a text book he took notes diligently. She though that he looked out of place in the lecture hall."
When class was over and all the students were filling out and handing out their slips for the class. The girl noticed the young man had not handed over a slip for the class and was walking out the back door of the lecture hall . Without thinking she went after him. She ran through the halls until she found him walking down the stairs.
"Um... Excuse me," She called out, panting slightly from her short run. The man stopped and turned around looking at her. "You didn't fill out a slip. They will mark you down as absent if you don't. I can grab one for you, if you-"
"Don't bother," He said, cutting her off. His deep voice fit him perfectly, though it sounded a bit lazy, like he was tired. "I'm not a student here. I shouldn't have come, I'll see ya," he said walking away. Leaving the girl a bit surprised and slightly confused. She sighed and walked away to turn in her own class slip.
As she was going out of the building she saw him walking out the big entrance doors. Children were running around but one boy fell. The man stopped walking and lifting the boy up. The boy immediately stopped crying too stunned to do anything except looking at the strange man. The other children came running to the boy as the man walked away, asking the boy who the man was.
After the girl snapped out of her little daze she ran out of the university after the man. "Please, wait a minute," she calls out to the man. He halted in his steps looking over his shoulder at her. "That class you were sitting in on, is pretty tough- even with a text book. So I was thinking if you feel like coming back for another lecture, maybe... maybe we could share mine?"
He stayed quite, just looking at her. Why on earth would she want to help him?
-------
After a long day at work, at the dry cleaners and going grocery shopping. The girl goes to her little apartment to start cooking dinner for herself. She eats her meal alone and reads a book before going sleep. Just like every other day except for the first time now she gets lost in her thoughts thinking about the man. Everything in her daily life that had no special meaning before she can now connect to him and suddenly everything is much interesting.
------
The next morning the girl dressed up more than usual , she wore a blue dress that reached just bellow her knees. She checked if he had shown up outside the University, but he didn't. Noon had come and she ate her lunch in the cafeteria in silence. She still held hope that he would come.
As she waited the man was at work. He worked as a mover. And that day he was rather busy. Despite the busy day, he made it to the last couple of classes. The girl saw him through the window of her class room running in the building. She quickly moved over the bench so he could sit next to her.
After classes they went together to the library, the girl had to sneak the man in as he was not registered in the school. As she walked around the library she saw him looking at a book with much interest. Taking the chance she studied his features, his raven black her which was much darker than her own and his slight stubble on his chin. It fit him though with his pale skin and dark brown eyes. He was tall and lean, he had some muscles that could be seen through his white shirt.
--------
"So what do you do for fun? And what are your favorite foods? And have you ever... you know fallen in love before?" The girl asked eagerly, as they walk outside with the evening sun shining warmth down on them.
The man just chuckled at her, "wait your turn," he said, "why were you named Hana?"
"Curious? Ha?" Hana asked. He just nodded and she answered his question, "They day I was born my dad noticed a cosmos flower blooming in the back yard. Nobody had planted it, it just popped up. That's why he named me Hana, because it means flower. He wanted me to smile all the time just like that cosmos did. That way, when ever things were tough I would give life my best smile and get through it." She smiled to herself, "crazy has it may sound it always seemed to work." She went silent as they kept on walking. The man kept quite as well, he knew that she wasn't done talking, that she just needed sometime for some reason. "When my dad died, I smiled from ear to ear all through his funeral. One of my relatives scolded me right there in front of everybody, said I was disrespecting his memory," She si ghed and continued sadly, "maybe it was disrespectful. I don't know."
"No, I think you were perfect," Hana laughed at his comment, though he was very serious.
"Good to know."
