Chapter 1. New neighbours
Charliee's pov.
"End him! Smash him to tiny pieces! COME ON!!" I screamed at the TV as me and my little brother battled the joker on the 'Lego marvel super heroes' Xbox game. He rapidly tapped away at the coloured buttons and the tiny graphic joker burst into a pile of bouncing Lego limbs. "YESSSSS!!" we both jumped up and cheered, each doing a little happy dance of our own.
"Charliee quick come here!" I heard my mum call from downstairs, I flipped the white Xbox controller on the floor and groaned as I left my comfy place on the beanbag in my brother's room. I stomped down to the kitchen where was hit by the familiar delicious smell of my mother's cooking. I scanned the room for the yummy treats and found a fresh pile of chocolate chip cookies; the kind that are soft and chewy and melt on your tongue. My mouth instantly started watering as my hand reached towards the plate, only to be swatted by my mother's as she peeked out of the gap in the curtain. She hadn't even looked up and she knew I was trying to get a cookie. She knows me so well.
"What ya creeping on mumma?" I chimed, reaching for a cookie again but was once again swatted away.
"Stop stealing the cookies. Look! We have new neighbours!" mum squealed as she grabbed my hand and dragged me towards the window so that I could peep through and see. She was right. The house beside ours, that had been empty of people for nearly two years, had a huge yellow moving truck parked in the driveway.
I looked closer, pulling the curtains further back to reveal half my face and watched as a woman around my mother's age stepped out carrying two big boxes. I saw my mother's eyes light up beside me. She had been talking about making new friends in the neighbourhood so I guess it won't be too long before she tries to befriend our neighbour. My eyes moved back to the van just as another dark figure stepped out, the shadow made its way into the lights of the front porch and my eyes widened. There, just a few feet away from us, walked a boy who looked around my age, he had dark hair and a sharp jawline, in other words he was hot even in the dark.
He was carrying a little girl who looked a lot like him but was around the age of five and fast asleep with her head in the crook of his neck. He stopped walking for a moment and the woman at the beginning reappeared, she gently held her arms out as he passed her the little girl then she pointed to the van and said something as he ran a hand through his dark hair and the woman left again, allowing me to admire what must be her son.
I was in the middle of looking him up and down, my eyes trailing to his face when I realised he had his head turned towards me, his eyes boring straight into mine. I gasped and jumped back from the window as if it was piping hot, my cheeks burning a bright red. After a minute, I cautiously peered out the window again only to see the boy walking towards the house carrying three heavy looking boxes stacked ontop of eachother with ease. He shot a glance towards me then disappeared into the house. In the split seconds we made eye contact I realised that he didn't looked confused or weirded-out like you would be if you saw some creeper in a batman top oggling at you from their kitchen window. He actually looked almost bored.
I stepped back from the window and faced my mother as she danced over to me, wiggling her shoulders in slow motion with her arms outstretched ready to clasp my waist and tickle me as I laughed and screamed, trying to wriggle free from those torturous tickle hands! She let go and grinned, handing me a cookie as I drooled over it before snatching it out of her hand and shoving it in my mouth.
"What?" I said through a mouthful of deliciousness as I noticed my mother wiggling her eyebrows like an evil villain with a cunning plan.
"That boy's cute" she said slyly with a mischievous wink. I almost choked on my cookie. Damn my mother for knowing the kind of guys I find cute. She could pick them out of a crowd before I even see them. My mother was a lot like me personality wise and was sometimes more like my bestfriend which I loved. Unfortunately though she did enjoy my humiliation like any other mum and wouldn't skip a chance to flare up my red blush to colour my paler than pale skin.
"im going to go revise." I mumbled as my cheeks tinged red and I hurried past her upstairs into my room, I heard her laugh from behind me and couldn't help but smile too.
I reached my room and collapsed on the bed which was situated opposite my window which was also opposite the house next door's window. Yes, two Windows opposite eachother so that each person living in those two rooms could see straight into one another's room. Usually I kept my curtains open as we hadn't had neighbours for nearly two years but now we did... crap!
I sat up and peered towards my open window, slowly slipping off the bed and walking over to the frame when suddenly a figure appeared and looked up, meeting my gaze. Can you guess who it was? Yes, the hot new neighbour boy. Great now the room opposite mine was being used by the hot new guy.
He was wearing a heart-stopping expression, his full lips were slightly puckered and his dark eyes were squinted. His dark eyebrows furrowed. An extremely hot confused but skeptical expression. Now that I could see him better I quickly scanned him with my eyes.
He was tall, about six foot and well built, his tight fitting black v-neck top showing that gorgeously. He had a sharp jawline and chiseled but soft features. His dark hair was brushed up in that fashionable spikey but messy way and he had dark eyes that were almost black but captivating. He even had a perfect tanned skin tone that looked like hundreds of Sun angels kissed him and blessed him with perfect skin. He was gorgeous. No other words to describe him. Perfect.
A small playful smirk lit his lips, making my heart stop as he stuffed his hands in his pockets. Oh my Lord, this boy's a God.
"If you don't mind... could you stop checking me out and introduce yourself sweetheart?" He said with a deep Texas accent. I always had a thing for guys with deep Texas accents and now the God-like boy opposite me has one. How typical. Wait did he say 'checking him out'? He saw me gawping at him? Oh wonderful, I don't even know the kid's name and ive humiliated myself. Could I get any more stupid?
"Ch-charliee..." I stuttered, still a bright shade of crimson. He laughed and gosh did it sound like heaven. I just found my new favourite sound.
"Well ch-charliee..." how cliché. "im Jace."
"Nice to meet you" I smiled kindly. This guy had a great personality to go with his great face and body. Was there anything wrong with him? He nodded and sat on the windowsill, his legs dangling over the edge. I just simply perched on my windowsill with one leg up and the other safely on the floor in my room, I didn't feel like falling down and breaking my bones thanks.
"So... do you know any hot chicks I can hook up with?" I shot my head up to look at the winking Jace. There it was, the flaw. A freaking man-whore.
