Jocelyn had been meditating for 2 hours straight with no interruptions, her tutor had told her this would help with her nerves, and let her reach out and find her spirit animal.
She was not amused when there was an abrupt interruption; “Hey Joce!” A husky male voice called from below, “What the fuck are you doing sat on the window ledge like that?” Jocelyn resisted the urge to jump down and crash all of her weight on the pest, so instead she sighed and climbed through the window, back inside. She locked the windows behind her before walking through her dark purple and pink room’s door into the hallway. She grabbed her mobile which had been balancing on the banister for as long as she had been at peace, before heading down the stairs and out the front door.
Jocelyn murmured, “Kailen, don’t disturb me like that-”
“But I’d been watching you for ages. I didn’t want to disturb because I thought you’d flip but I couldn’t help it.” Kailen interrupted. Jocelyn was about to snap back at him when her phone began to vibrate. She pulled it from her pocket and looked at the screen, rolling her eyes when the name ‘Desmond’ flashed on the screen, “Fucking great” She hit ‘answer and brought the phone to her ear.
“Babe?” A deep, gravelly voice rang through the speakers. Awaiting no reply it carried on, “I’m picking you up in five.” Jocelyn bit the inside of her cheek to stop herself from arguing, instead she gave a short reply of, “K.” then ended the call.
Jocelyn gave a loud groan as she leaned against her the pillar of her homely porch, Kailen sat down on the outdoor couch and motioned for her to sit with him, she shook her head at the gesture. Kailen was 23 years old, only one year and a half older than Jocelyn herself. He had messy ginger hair that he’d had done up in the popular style Jocelyn despised, but found very cute on Kailen. His eyes almost matched his hair, bright and auborn making him stand out from any crowd. He loved maroon too, it suited him too, in Jocelyn’s opinion. He was wearing his maroon winter beanie, even though we were in the middle of summer, his white tee with his burgundy b-ball jumper, dark black jeans and bright red Nike trainers.
Jocelyn herself was pretty plain, it was usually ever black and white, or white and black. She felt it was the best look to match her colourful personality as well as her hair and eyes. She wasn’t too big on make-up either, trying to make herself presentable whilst using the least make-up possible. It seemed to work to most men’s standards. aswell as her own. That day, she had decided to wear her white Nirvana tank top and black booty short with her white pumps. Standard, she thought.
“Oh look, loverboy arrives on the scene,” Kailen joked, although his small attack on Desmond was very serious, he hated the man, and Jocelyn didn’t disagree.
He was a pain.
Jocelyn turned to the road and noticed the motorbike heading down at, most likely, double the speed limit before it eventually came to a crawl outside the house.
Desmond didn’t bother to hop off the bike and greet his girlfriend, instead he revved the engine, as if he was signalling her.
Jocelyn felt like punching him, but no way in hell could she ever get away with something like that.
“I’ll see you tonight Kailen.” She said before walking down her garden path to the bike, Kailen watching every step she took. Jocelyn wasn’t stupid, she knew Kailen liked her, she had known for a long time, however he’d only started showing signs when she had been tied into a relationship with her current boyfriend, a man she was convinced was conceived in the depths of hell’s fire.
She popped up the small trunk and took out the 2nd helmet before closing it. She walked around and hopped on the bike, looking over to Kailen who was now staring at Desmond. Jocelyn could see that, through his visor, Desmond was staring back.
