"Hmm..."Your eyes followed Toni throughout the party that night, watching her throw herself into a fit of laughter, and dance goofily with her friends. You could see a group of girls across the way giggle and look between the handsome group of boys and one girl. One was obviously interested in the pink haired girl.
And you honestly couldn't blame them, you always thought she was undeniably charming when he was smiling wholeheartedly.
But it did sting a little to watch.
You finish your drink with a long final sip, as you watch Toni run her fingers through her curly pink hair, her eyes catching yours briefly.
*Clink!*
Your empty glass clatters against the counter of the crowded room. It was still early, but you had a stacked schedule tomorrow, and frankly, your feet started to hurt like hell. You didn't really need to stay too much longer just to see Toni flirt with girls tonight.
Leaning on the counter amongst friends, you turn to Veronica, brushing her arm and call over the music, "V! I'm going to head home!"
She pouted, "What, no! Cheryl, you were only here for a bit!" she hugged you close obviously wasted, but you could yourself feeling a bit tipsy also, "Can't you stay out a bit longer?"
You smiled, at her tipsy behavior, still swaying to the music, "I can't, not tonight. I'm exhausted!" You shift the weight from one foot to another, damning yourself for choosing to wear strappy heels instead of your comfortable flats.
Who were you trying to impress anyway? Oh that's right, basically everyone. That's what you do when you're the queen bee.
Veronica whined, but hugged you tightly, "Alright then, you have to promise to stay out longer with me next time! See you at school." You lazily pushed her away.
V pulled you towards the group. They were all laughing loudly in a huddle, "Say bye to Cheryl, guys, she's heading home!"
You offer a small wave, ready to run home and chuck your shoes off. You're greeted with a loud protest, each person asking you to stay in their own drunken languages.
Toni was leaning over Jughead, waving for you to wait. You raised a brow as she cleanly finished her beer, ending it with a satisfied exhale. She patted the boy on the back, making her way to you, and slurred,
"Alrrright, guys, I gotta take Cheryl home!" she waved a hand to them, while hooking an arm into yours. she produced a pair of car keys from her pocket, swinging the key ring around her finger, "Let'ssss go, blossom."
You put a palm to her chest, and look at her incredulously, stopping her in her tracks,
"The fuck do you think you're doing?"
Toni looked at you confused, her eyes drooping downwards on the outer edges, and stated,
"I'm taaaking you home, like I a-always do." she was shifting on her feet a lot, trying to regain her balance.
She was obviously smashed.
You scoff, laughing at her clumsy antics, "No, no way, Toni, you're drunk!" You push her shoulder a bit, making her stumble backwards and brush your arm off. She had a smug smile on her face but you continued, "There's no way you're driving me home tonight, or at all for that matter."
Toni frowned at that, her brows furrowing, and tried to rationalize with you,
"B-but, I aalways drive you home, Cheryl. I can make it."
