I stood in the middle of my bedroom waiting for my grandpas to show up. My mom had called them with the lame excuse of 'I can't handle him'. She didn't even try. She didn't even pay attention to me. All of her time and focus went to the piece of shit boyfriend she claims to be madly in love with. Whatever, it doesn't matter any more. I know my grandpas will be there for me.

"What's going on?" Grandpa Tyson asked me.

"Nothing" I mumbled.

"Don't give me attitude boy. Go get your stuff packed. You're coming to stay with me and grandpa Draven" he said.

"Yes sir" I said then walked away.

I packed what little clothes I have into a duffle bag. The rest can stay, I refuse to wear them. It was stuff my mom was given for me that was either too small or too big. I placed my laptop, cellphone with charger, and a few other things in my book bag along with my school stuff and was ready to go.

"Got everything?" Grandpa Draven asked me.

"Yes sir" I answered.

Truth is, both of my grandpas scare the hell out of me. They don't take shit from anyone, including me. That's why my mom is making me move in with them.

I can't stand my mom's boyfriend. In all honesty I think he's just using her but she won't listen to me. It makes me feel like she's choosing him over me.

When she wouldn't listen to me I started acting out. Staying out late, drinking, and refusing to do what she says is part of the reason she called my grandpas. Her boyfriend even tries to tell me what to do and I just laugh. It pisses me off when she screams at me because I refuse to do what that asshole says. He's not my father and I'll be damned if he's going to act like he is.

I don't even know my real father nor do I want to. When I was younger he came around a few times but then he just stopped coming around all together. By then I was old enough to know what was going on and started asking questions.

Mom tried to explain everything to me but I didn't believe her. It wasn't until my grandpas sat me down and flat out told me everything that I believed it. I'm glad he quit trying to come around. He didn't deserve my mom and he doesn't deserve to have me as a son.

"We're here" grandpa Tyson said breaking me from my thoughts.

I got out of the car and waited for grandpa Draven to pull in with my car. Grandpa Tyson immediately grounded me from my car and made me ride with him. It's going to suck not having my car but I'll get over it.

"Get your stuff and take it up to your room. Put it all away then meet us in the kitchen" grandpa Draven said as he walked away from my car.

"Yes sir" I said

Since I was born I've had my own room here. They actually had the room built just for me. When I got older I was allowed to change the walls to what I wanted. Uncle Tom painted the room bright green and installed a huge dry erase board on one wall. It literally covered the whole wall.

I love to draw and that seemed like the perfect addition. I could drawl and erase and drawl again. I have a ton of pictures of the drawings I've done.

It didn't take long to put my things away considering I didn't bring much with me. I didn't have much period. Mom never had the money to buy me what I needed and begged me not to tell my grandpas. I wasn't surprised, all her money seemed to be going to that douche bag.

When I was finished putting my stuff away I walked downstairs to the kitchen. I was starting to get nervous as I got closer. Both of my grandpas were sitting at the bar in the kitchen facing me. Now I was sweating.

"Sit down" grandpa Draven said

I sat down and waited for them to speak.

"What in the hell is your deal, Drayson?" Grandpa Tyson demanded

"I..I.. I um..." I couldn't form a sentence I was so scared

"Spit it out already" grandpa Draven said

"I don't like moms boyfriend. He's using her and she won't listen to me" I managed to say

"So you act like a punk because of it?" Grandpa Tyson asked

"She doesn't care about me! She chooses that piece of shit over me every day. I don't understand why she acts like she cares about what I do. She won't even listen to me" the last part coming out in a whisper.

I think my grandpas were in shock because neither one of them said anything. We sat there in silence for a few minutes before anyone said anything.

"How do you know he's using her?" Grandpa Draven asked in a soft voice.

"I overheard a phone conversation of his. He kept saying 'don't worry I can get the money from Anna without her even knowing'. When I told mom all she said was it's not nice to listen to other peoples conversations" I said as the tears built in my eyes.

It remained quiet so I continued telling them everything.

"One day I came home from school and she started accusing me of stealing money from her. She had fifty dollars in her purse and it was missing. I promise you both I didn't take it. After that she started complaining more and more about missing money. I tried to tell her it was him but she wouldn't listen so I just gave up all together" I said and put my head down.

"Well we are going to get to the bottom of this" grandpa Tyson said

"We damn sure will. We didn't raise her to be like this" grandpa Draven said

"You believe me?" I asked

"Yes we do" they both answered

"Finally someone actually believes me" I said as I began to sob.

After calming down we ate lunch together. Grandpa Draven had to call my school and change my address so that I would be able to ride the bus while I'm grounded so he excused himself. I sat with grandpa Tyson and talked about everything.

"You're still grounded from your car. You should have never acted out like that. Always come to us if you need help. We are always here for you" he said

"Yes sir. I don't know what I was thinking" I said

"You're seventeen, you weren't thinking" he chuckled

I chose to tell my grandpas everything. I needed clothes and school supplies and I had no way to get them. The only thing I could do was tell them.

They were so upset we left immediately to go get what I needed. I felt horrible because they had to step in and do what my mom couldn't. Well she could have but she allowed the douche bag to continually take her money.

After our shopping trip I went to my room to start on homework. I had a bunch of stuff to do but it was easy. My grandpas say I get my smarts from my mom. She had straight As just like I do.

"Dinners ready" one of my grandpas said

I put my school work away and went down to eat. We talked about school and my so called friends while we ate. I don't have any real friends. Just a few people I talk to and hang out with once in a while. It doesn't bother me but everyone else makes a big deal about it.

When dinner was done I went back to finish my homework. Once everything was done and put away and pulled my laptop out. I checked all of my social media accounts and email before shutting it down and going to sleep.
