Respect (On hold)

Chapter 2

I woke up to my alarm clock and quickly got out of bed. Grabbing clothes for the day I rushed into the bathroom to shower and dress. I wasn't exactly sure what time the bus showed up so I hurried to get everything done.

"Calm down Drayson. You still have fifteen minutes before the bus even gets here" grandpa Draven said.

"Yea the damn thing wakes me up at the same time every morning. This is the first time I've been up before the bus" grandpa Tyson chuckled

I ate breakfast then headed to the bus stop. There were a couple of other kids waiting for the bus already. I stood there waiting when someone else walked up just before the bus pulled to a stop.

"You a new student?" The guy asked

"Nope" I answered

"How come I've never seen you around here before?" He asked

"I lived on the other side of town. I just moved in with my grandpas last night" I said

"Grandpas? As in the gay couple on the block?" He asked

"Yea. Got a problem with then being gay?" I asked getting irritated

"Not at all. We actually have that in common" he chuckled

I laughed and stuck my hand out.

"I'm Drayson" I aid introducing myself

"Drayson... Hmm that's original. I'm Tegan" he said as he shook my hand

We climbed the steps to the bus and sat in the same seat. We talked the whole way to school. He's a senior just like I am. I've never seen him around school but then again I didn't really look. I busy myself with school work instead of trying to make friends.

I don't get bullied or picked on because of my love of learning. I'm not exactly a small guy so everyone leaves me alone. I talk to everyone but don't have actual friendships with anyone. I keep to myself because it's easier for me to concentrate on my school work.

The day went on and I didn't see Tegan again until lunch. I got a bag of chips and a sandwich then went to the vending machine to get a pop. I sat down at the usual table by myself to eat and work on extra credit. I was so in to my school work that I didn't notice Tegan sitting down beside me.

"Are you seriously working on school work during lunch?" He asked

"Yep. I love to learn and I'm not ashamed" I said

"That's good. You can help me then" he said with a smile

"Help with what?" I asked

"Math. I'm failing and if I don't bring my grade up soon I won't graduate at the end of the year" he said

"I can do that" I said

Just as I said the the bell for the end of lunch rang. We threw our trash away and went our separate ways. The rest if the school day flew by and I was once again climbing the steps onto the bus.

As I walked down the isle on the bus a hand reached out and pulled me into a seat. I'm glad I landed on my butt when I fell into the seat.

"Damn. What did u do that for?" I asked Tegan

"Because I want you to sit with me" he said simply

"You could have stopped me and asked me to sit with you. I would have said yes. You didn't have to manhandle me" I said

"Trust me, you would know if I was manhandling you" he said in a low voice

I didn't say anything back to him. I'm not sure he even meant for me to hear him. We rode the bus in silence all the way to our stop. When we got off I started to walk to my grandpas' house and noticed Tegan following me.
