"What are you up to, son?" Asked Jon

"Talking to my friend." I said with my face buried in my phone.

"Who would that be?"

"Sarah." I say, looking up at my dad.

"Is she your girlfriend?"

"No, why are you asking so many questions?" I ask, returning to my phone.

"I just wanted to know."

It was always like that with my dad. No matter what I'm doing on my phone for the last three months, he always wants to know. But what he doesn't know is that I'm bisexual. My name is Jace, and this is my coming out story.

Starting three months ago, my girlfriend broke up with me and didn't tell me why. I grew distant from my parents, and I was always upset. I often secluded myself to my room for days at a time. So my mom convinced my dad to talk to me, but he is pressing me with questions. That's not talking.

I've been talking to this guy, but I don't know if he is interested in me yet. I just need to find out a way to tell my parents.

"Clara, where is Jace? I want to talk to him." Said my dad.

I'm in my room, but he never checks my room due to privacy rules.

"He is in his room." She yelled from the kitchen.

There was a soft knock on my door.

"Come in." I said from my bed.

"Jace, we need to talk about this." He gestures to me in my bed.

"Why, what about it?" I asked, irritated.

"You've been like this ever since Emily broke up with you."

"So what, I'm healing." My phone vibrates in my hand. It's a text from him. My dad heard in go off.

"Who is that?"

"No one, it's just an email." I say somewhat red.

"You sure?"

"Yes, dad, can you leave now, please?" I say with a stern look.

"Fine." He walked out without another word.

Kyle is his name. He is bisexual too. He hasn't come out to his parents either. it looks like we both have the same secret. But unlike him, I plan to tell my parents. I'm doing it tonight, so they leave me alone.

Kyle: So you're doing it tonight?

Me: Yea, I just want them to stop pressing me.

Kyle: What if they kick you out or something?

Me: Then I'll get to be with you.

Kyle: But my parents.

Me: So, they will think I'm a friend

Kyle: True. I love you

My face went bright red. He has never said anything like that before, and we have only been talking about a month and a half.

Me: I love you too.

I took a nap after I sent that message. I woke up an hour later due to my dad trying to take my phone from my hand.

"What are you doing?" I ask, still groggy.

"Give me your phone." He said with his hand out.

"No way I pay for it, not you."

"Now, Jace."

"No, dad. Tell me why you want my phone that I bought with my hard earned money." He went silent and looked down sad.
