Sal looked at the bags that Brian had in his hands. It was Tuesday morning around 9 AM. and Brian was leaving. They had a day off from work. He and Brian had been dating for five months. A couple days ago, they started to argue about some stupid things. Sal wants to get married, but Brian doesn't. Sal kept pushing Brian for them to get married until he had enough and decided to leave. Sal didn't want him to go, but Brian packed up and told Sal that he was going to his parent's. Sal begged him not to go. Brian looked at him and said he was going. Sal's heart was beating fast and he kept begging him not to go. Brian frowned and looked at him. "I'm sorry Sal. I'll talk to you later," He said then opened the door and left. Sal frowned as he watched Brian leave. Once the door shut, Sal cried out as he went to his knees and put his hands over his face as he cried. Brian heard Sal through the door and hung his head. He wiped his eyes then went to his jeep and got in. He looked at the house once last time, took a deep breath and exhaled then backed out and drove away.
Inside the house, Sal was sitting down by the front door with his back up against the wall. He was still crying uncontrollably now as he wiped his eyes. Calling out for Brian to come back, but knows he won't get an answer. He was having a hard time getting his breathing back to normal. Sal took deep breaths and exhaled. He put a hand over his heart as he felt it breaking in two. "Brian...please come back," He whispered and closed his eyes. He wiped his eyes then slowly got up and went to the living room to get his phone. He laid down on the sofa on his side and called one of his best friends Joe. He put the phone to his ear then put his free hand over his eyes as he started to cry again. He continued to take deep breaths and exhaled. Sal heard the ringing and he waited for Joe to pick up.
Joe was home with his family when he heard his phone. He answered it when he saw it was Sal. "Hey Sal. What's up?" He asked. "Joe...." Sal said and cried. Joe frowned when he heard Sal crying. "Sal...what's wrong?" He asked as he took a sit on his sofa. Sal covered his mouth as he coughed. "Brian left," He said. "Oh no. I'm sorry Sal. What happened?" Joe asked. Sal sniffed and slowly sat up. He thought about what happened and sighed. "We argued for a couple of days until he finally had enough. So he packed up and left this morning," He said then reached for a tissue on the coffee table. Joe ran his hand through his hair then looked at his daughter and son who was in his play pen. His dogs were around him on the floor. "I'm sorry Sal. You know what? I'm coming over to keep you company," He said then heard Sal blow his nose. "Thank you Joe," Sal said. "Welcome. See you in a few," Joe said. "Okay," Sal said then hung up. Joe hung up, too and told Bessy what happened then went over to Sal's. Sal put the phone down then laid back down on his side and waited for Joe. He thought about what happened. "Why would he just leave me? I knew he doesn't want to get married, but why do I keep begging him to get married? God I am so stupid," Sal thought and put his face into the pillow and cried more.
Brian was on the highway driving towards his parent's house. He thought about the argument about marriage. "Please lets get married, Brian," Sal had said. "No, Sal. I don't want to get married. You of all people should know that," Brian had said. They keep going back and forth with that for a few days until he had enough and left. He hated to see Sal upset, but he had to leave so that he can have some for himself and think about what to do. Brian took a deep breath and exhaled. After a while he decided to get something for lunch. He got off the highway and saw a sign for Burger King and decided to go there. When he got there, it was about 11:17 A.M. Brian got out of his jeep and went inside. He ordered a burger, waited for it then went to a table near the window so he can keep an eye on his jeep. He ate his burger as he looked through his Twitter then his ringtone went off. He saw that it was Murr calling. Brian took a deep breath and exhaled then answered it. "Hey James. What's up?" He asked. "Hey Brian. Nothing much. I am home though. How are you?" James asked. Brian took a bit of his fry. "I'm okay, I guess," He replied. James leaned back on his sofa. "What's wrong bud?" He asked. Brian sighed and shook his head. "Nothing. I'm going to my parent's right now. I might stay there for a few days. I just stopped to get lunch," He replied. He was wondering if he should tell Murr about him and Sal. "Oh. You and Sal?" James asked. Brian bit into his burger and ate it before he replied. "No. Just me. Sal's at home. I'm going alone." James ran his hand over his head then cleared his throat. "Oh. Are you and Sal okay?" He asked. "Um...," Brian said and looked at his food then took a sip of his drink. James waited for Brian to reply. Brian took a deep breath and exhaled. He glanced around BK. "We are having some problems right now," He replied and looked out the window. "Oh man. I'm sorry that happened. Want to talk about it?" James asked then got up and went to look out the window. Brian took another bite out of his burger before he replied. "No. Not right now." He ate some fries. "Maybe later though. I got to go and eat then head to my parent's," Brian said. James nodded. "Alright. Hope you guys work the problems out," He said. "I'm sure we will in time. Hey, can you do me a favor?" Brian asked. "Sure," James said and glanced around the apartment. Brian licked his lips. "Can you check up on Sal?" He asked. Brian said it in a hushed tone, but James heard what he asked. He smiled. "Sure buddy. Talk later," He replied. "Thanks. Talk later. Bye," Brian said then hung up. James hung up, too then left to go check up on Sal.
