I laid on my bed stretched out in peace when a small knock disturbed. I groaned in frustration wondering who it could be swinging open the door to come face to face with a little boy. I was confused to why a little kid was in my house. "What's your name kid?" I asked bewildered. "Eric." The boy said confused. "Where's your parents?" The boy was silent. I grinned. Poor little guy all alone guess I'll be his mama now. "You must be hungry let me fix you some grub." I said cheerfully taking his hand and leading him to the kitchen.
I stopped for a few seconds eying a red dyed butcher knife ' I just don't know how this red syrup keeps getting on my knives' I thought dutifully cleaning off the knife. The kid stared with big round eyes full of fear. ' Guess he's scared of knives' I put the knife back in it's wooden holder and got bread and cheese out the fridge.
"I'm making grilled cheese would that be ok?" I asked the boy who then nodded shyly kicking his foot. I placed four toasts in the toaster and turned on the stove. The fire rose and I got the toast out and put cheese between them before placing them on the grill. The whole time I cooked them the boy looked at me like I was some kind of monster. I ignored him and placed the grilled cheeses on two separate plates. There was a plate for myself and one for him.
He took the plate with caution and I led him to a small round table for us to eat at. The wooden chairs screeched as we moved them backwards. The boy and I looked at each other in the eye and I couldn't help but feel he looked familiar.
"Don't worry it's not poisoned." I smiled playfully at the boy who gasped from my sudden statement. The boy nodded and took a small bite like a mouse would when inspecting cheese. I took a large bite loving the taste if the gooey cheese. The boy eventually gave in to his hunger as his stomach growled causing him to take larger bites. We eventually finished and the boy volunteerly helped me wash the dishes. 'It's Nice To Have A Little Helper.' I thought glancing at the boy who beginning to relax.
