♛; Remember what we are.
---
"Bertolt, wake up!" Shouted Reiner who was in the midst of putting on his gear. "Come on, we're going to be late. Everyone will be waiting for us," Reiner stated eagerly. He frowned at Bertolt who was still fast asleep next to him. He sighed and continued to get dressed and ready for today. He had to be careful, because the 3D manuvering gear had to be put on properly. Otherwise it would faulter and might get him killed. Bert always did sleep in the weirdest positions, Reiner thought noting how he lay on his back with his legs crossing each other and his back arched.
Reiner looked back at Bert, he leaned in a kissed him on the cheek. The kiss did have it's effect on sleeping beauty, Bertolt slowly but surely started waking up.
"Good morning m'lady." Reiner teased. Bertolt opened and rolled his eyes, he mumbled things that Reiner couldn't hear. He moved over to the closet and grabbed both their boots.
"You're gonna have to get dressed Bert, we're Soldiers now and we have a duty to protect mankind from titans." Reiner stated. "Today's our shift, you can sleep in tomorrow." Reiner continued. Bertolt frowned, and it wasn't because he had to wake up at 4:30 in the morning. He sat up and noticed that Reiner had set out his clothes for him, he started changing into the uniform.
"Isn't great?" Reiner asked happily.
"Isn't what great?" Bertolt asked, putting on his shirt.
"We made it, we're alive. We survived the break in at Wall Rose, and we made in into the survey corps." Reiner answered. Bertolt's eyes darkened and he felt his soul shallowing. Reiner, of course, didn't seem to realise that.
"Yeah." Bert mumbled. He continued to strap on his gear.
"You're going to get yourself killed if you put the gear on like that!" Reiner warned, he came on over and helped Bert out. "You'd fall right off, y'know!"
"I wouldn't die." Bert said. Reiner looked confused.
"The Titans would eat you."
"No, they wouldn't be able to. At least not right away."
"Bert," Reiner started. "Don't act like this, I know you can handle yourself but I don't want to lose you. Okay?" Bertolt suddenly felt sad, knowing that he upset Reiner.
"Okay." he said. Reiner smiled again and started to clean the room while Bertolt put on his boots. They were long boots, so they seemed to look tall on his commerades but on him, due to his height, looked liked they belonged on him. I don't deserve them, I don't deserve this, Bert thought.
He didn't normally think all of this everyday, only when the nightmares would come. They would remind him of everything, of everything he was. Normally he wouldn't make much of a deal with it, he would push the thoughts back in but he couldn't. He couldn't because if he did, he would forget everything but he had to remember. He had to so that he could be there for Reiner when he remembered.
Though Bertolt decided he could at least push back the thoughts once for today. For Reiner's sake.
"I'm going to head out, Jean and Eren will be waiting for us and you can't leave the two of them alone for a while or a war might break out!" Reiner laughed. Bertolt rushed with the gear, and sped walked out of the room still putting on his jacket.
"Wait for me!" He yelled. Reiner laughed at the state Bert was in, but he waited still. Once he fixed his appearence they both walked right on out. Prepared for whatever the world threw at them. A little more prepared than others, you might think.
