I waited outside the health room doors at school. Eddies last class period. The bell rang and kids rushed out and of course Eddie was the last one out (because of his short legs). He was carrying a baby car seat
Eddie: Lets go, I don't wanna be too late
I leaned over his shoulder to look at the baby in the car seat
Richie: Where the fuck did you get that?
He looked down in the car seat like he had no idea what I was talking about
Eddie: This, is my robot baby. Mrs. Kadence gave everyone a fake baby to take care of
Richie: You just carry it around all day?
Eddie: Not exactly. I have to feed it, change it, burp it—
Richie: That already sounds like too much work
Eddie: No! He's real cute! He makes noises and you hold him like a real baby!
Richie: I've never been a fan of kids
Eddie: Really? I kinda like babies
We had already walked outside, on our way to meet at a cafe with the Losers.
I looked down at Eddie who was wearing my hoodie. What a cutie
When we got to the cafe no one was there yet so we took a seat in a booth
Richie: What did you name the baby?
Eddie: I don't know yet.
Richie: How about Ki? (Said like K-eye)

He looked up at me and raised an eye brow
Eddie: We are never having kids together.
I chuckled and then the baby started to cry. It was so annoying. Eddie took it from its seat and cradled it in his arms
Eddie: Hold him for a sec so I can get the bottle
Richie: Uh—
He handed it to me before I could say no
Eddie: Support his neck! It'll break if you don't
Richie: I got it Ed's!
He shuffled through the diaper bag and I held the baby, trying to ignore its cries
He finally pulled out the bottle and held it to its mouth and it instantly stopped crying
Richie: Let me see that
I took the bottle from his hands and it made a weird drinking noise
Eddie: I'm gonna name him Chance. You can be his dad!
I smiled
Richie: Okay, I'll be the dad-o.
Eddie giggled and watched me feed the fake baby
Then the Losers showed up, minus Ben and Bev.
Mike: Sup dweebs
Richie: Loser,
Stan: Who's baby is that? You better fucking return him right now trash mouth!
Eddie: It's my baby. It's a robot.
Billy: H-he's kinda cute. Are y-you two the gay d-dads?
Richie: You bet your biscuits.
Eddie: Speaking of which—
I looked at Ed's who had a faint blush
Stan: Wait... isn't that Richies jacket? You've been wearing it all week
Mike: Yeah... I noticed too.
Eddie: Well... that's the thing.
I handed Eddie the baby who put it back in its car seat
Richie: I'm just gonna say it. Eddie and I are together. Dating. As in gay together. Two dad-o's. Lover boys—
Mike: I fucking knew it!!! Who made the first move?

Stan: Shit! I owe mike $10!
Mike: I called it! I accept cash only.
Richie: You made bets on our relationship?
Billy: We already knew th-that you l-liked each other. Ever since that d-day at the l-library
Eddie: Really?
Stan: Ya. But you know what this means?!? Double dates!
Billy clapped his hands and Richie cringed
Richie: Fuck no bro
Eddie: Aw, it would be so cute!
Mike: Why am I always some how put into the third wheel position?
Richie: I don't even like doing normal dates. No way am I going on a double dates with you dip shits!
Billy: Y-you have too! In fact s-stan and I h-have tickets t-to see a orchestra th-this w-weekend. You guys should come
Eddie turned to me and grabbed my hand
Eddie: Oh please, Love? It'll be fun!
Mike gave me a smirk and stood up
Mike: Ima go. See you guys tomorrow
Richie: Don't leave me Mike!
But he left and I was stuck with a bunch of lovesick boys
Stan: Come on trash mouth. Live a little
Richie: Oh Yeah, seeing a bunch of nerds play instruments is really living on the edge...
Eddie placed a hand on my arm sending chills up my spine

I looked into his sad brown eyes and sighed
