John stepped outside to feel a cold blast of air in his face. It was December, and the days were getting colder by the second. He quickly retreated back inside and grabbed a green jacket before leaving again. The distance from his apartment to the bustation was about a 5 minute walk, and it was hard to find for him without a map on the first day.
While walking, he looked around himself, admiring his new surroundings for the 4th time. John was the kind of kid that didn't mean to make trouble, but did anyway. After countless intense arguments, a lot of door slamming, and many broken hearts, he had switched schools 4 times. But, his idea of "trouble" was attempted suicide. After each time a person found out he did it, the entire school found out and each time he was labeled as "the suicidal kid". Lots of people felt pity for him, but most just gave him countless beatings and told him to stop being a pussy and kill himself. Of course, each time his mom found out they moved schools.
Finally, after a couple of moments, he finally reached his destination, the bus station. It wasn't anything special, just a wooden bench and a little bit of shelter from rain. "Wow," he thought to himself, "At least it's better than the last one I saw." He sat down and waited. A beautiful red cardinal flew by, and found another on a tree. He perched right next to her and leaned up against her. "Ah," he thought to himself, "Love in nature is pretty." Suddenly, a cat that had crawled behind them from a window sill pounced onto the male. He looked away as it got mauled. After a couple more minutes, the blue transport bus arrived at his stop. He got on and sat between two big gruffy men. They looked like the kind of people that would be in a gang.
When it was his stop, he rushed off the bus as fast as he could, and didn't look behind him. There, in front of him, was his new school. All he could do was stare. It was a dark grey colored school, no wider than 4 buses. It was 2 stories high, and had close to no windows. The only thing that stood out were the front doors, which were colored a crimson red. He slowly stepped forward, like a soldier trying to avoid mines. He reached the entrence and slowly pulled open the doors. Inside, the halways were a dirty white, with some cracked ceiling lights and rows of navy blue lockers. He stepped inside to be greeted by a metal detector. He thought to himself, "Why would they need this?"
After going through it, he walked through a second pair of doors. Suddenly, the first bell rang. "Crap," he said. He quickly snatched his classes sheet and found his first subject. He let out a big sigh. Math.
