Max was born in Florida, living out what he believed to be a normal life despite a few pitfalls. His interest in snakes grew as he got older, fascinated by how they move, hunt, and live. His life was comfortable and sheltered, living with his parent...
Max is the main focus of this book. he is a shy, soft-spoken individual with a curious interest in snakes. He has acute knowledge about plants and wild animals within forests and is quite independent. As a result, he tends to stay quiet in social situations - straying away from human interaction. He is easily manipulated by those who have earned his trust but is extremely cautious around people who he hasn't gotten to know very well. he dislikes the cold but is comfortable in heats that most people would find impossible to stand.
he also has a form Ichthyosis Vulgaris, a skin condition that causes his skin to be scaly. but his form of the condition makes his skin more similar to the scales of a snake. he is also affected by albinism, making his skin and hair white whilst his eyes are a pale red. he has patches of scales on his lower face, spreading from under his nose to under his ears, reaching around to just below his hairline, these scales also cover his forearms. He has the ability to communicate with snakes, although his speech in their tongue isn't the best.

Apollo:
Apollo is the Black Mamba that Max keeps hidden in his backyard, He is venemous and was found by Max when he was injured by a dog. He is calm and logical but doesn't have much knowledge of how humans work. he acts like an older brother towards Max and works alongside him when doing 'jobs'. he is 14 feet long and has a pure black tongue.

Alea Morris:
Alea Morris is the mother of Max, she has been scared of children ever since she gave birth to him. She doesn't have a high level of focus and is quite skittish when any child is near her, more so with her son Max. She makes a living in painting figurines and spends most of her time in her study painting.

Robert Morris:
Robert Morris is the father of Max and works as a sculptor, creating canvases for his wife to paint. He is a cold person, only showing large amounts of emotion around his wife as they work. He also spends most of his time in the study making art. He has a grotesque style to his art - although nobody truly knows where his inspiration comes from.
