~Hades is the Greek God of the Underworld; brother of Poseidon and Zeus; reigning over all who is dead and keeper of the gates of Tartarus (Ultimate Hell in Greek mythology) and Thanatos is the Greek God of the Dead. He is said to be below Hades in terms of godly rank therefore he must do the bidding of Hades.
~I have been reading some amazing Greek mythology books on Wattpad and felt inspired to dabble in some mythology stories of my own so here is my Zodiac-Greek crossover :D
~Hope you enjoy and leave a comment as to whether this crossover has potential to be its own story :P
~This is the setup to the real action and torture so if you wish to skip the boring parts, move onto pt 2 to witness all the gory goodness ^-^ A brief summary will be placed the end of this chapter if you do not want to read this introduction since it is pretty long and uneventful.
Libra's POV:
Holding my sword of justice dikaiosýni in a defensive stance, I continued to creep along the banks of the river Styx. I was here on a mission to find my brother Scorpio who had not been seen days after his planned arrival home; I had felt guilty for not being able to comfort my mother, Cancer, after his disappearance and offered to search for him in Egypt. A mystical feeling drew me to the river Styx as if it were beckoning me to come to it.
I quickly snapped around, my sword mere inches away from the neck of a fierce, young man dressed in all black with crimson red eyes blazing with such an intensity only matched by the afternoon sun. I gasped in awe and sudden fear as fearsome wings covered in jet black feathers unfurled from the man's back; fire erupting from the base and making its way up the wing until both were on full display ablazed.
The fiery wings surrounded both of us and a smothering wave of flames engulfed the both of us. I could see the fire circulating around me but no heat nor burns were felt. Staring into the eyes of the man as fire continued to swirl around us, I commanded him to update me as to what was happening. Smirking diabolically, the man gave a quick bow and with a tint of menace, replied "I am Thanatos, Greek God of Death, and I believe you are seeking your brother Scorpio yes? I was sent here by Hades to bring you to his kingdom where you will most certainly find answers to all of this. Do not fret for we will be in his kingdom shortly"
Sensing the truth behind his words, I lowered my sword from his neck and sighed, "I do hope I can find truths as to what happened with my brother. My mothe..."
The flames suddenly disappeared and I was in the middle of a grand throne room, blanketed by obsidian pillars and walls which twinkled with various colors of precious gems that were delicately carved in. Perched on the throne made of pure rubies in the middle of the room was a man of about 40 years of age. He wore a black suit which hug to his figure and accentuated his sculpted muscles; a crown made of skulls tipped with emerald jewels sat atop his abyssal-black hair.
Thanatos beside me bowed to the man and promptly announced my arrival. Then in a tornado of fire, he disappeared from the throne room leaving me alone with the God of the Underworld. I, being the politest and most respectable member of the Zodiacs, quickly followed suit and gave the God a curt bow as well.
Looking up at the man, who I presumed was Hades, I asked "Why am I here in the realm of the Dead?" to which I received an icy laugh. Hades made contact with me and replies "I couldn't help but notice you wandering around our river and took a curiosity to figure out who you were; it gets awfully boring down here having to rule of this vast kingdom of the Dead you know." Being discontempt with the answer, I repeated once more "Why am I here in the realm of the Dead?"
Hades didn't take the question well and boomed "I brought you here so you can see your precious murderer of a brother Scorpio doomed to fight Cerberus in order to live. He had been ripped apart by my comrade Anubis, God of the Dead who presides in Egypt, for murdering one of his children in cold blood and I brought up the idea of him fighting for his life. After all, Scorpio is no normal mortal."
"Why would he be here then with you if this Anubis god was your counterpart? If Scorpio wronged him then why are you stepping in?" I asked, confused and conflicted as to what had happen and what was going to happen.
"Silly Zodiac, as his counterpart, I partake in the torturing and eventual death sentence of all those who commit a crime against the Gods. Anubis was extremely angry and he swore to tear apart Egypt and then Earth if he didn't avenge his child. I stepped in and suggested the idea of allowing Scorpio to fight for his survival, which is not going to happen, but it will be enough to sate Anubis' anger." Hades chuckled in response. "Now I brought you here so you may witness the bloodbath that is to come and judge for yourself the actions of your brother."
"What do I do?" I thought to myself. On one hand, my brother committed a heinous crime and by universal justice and law he should be punished as such. However, he is my brother and I cannot bear seeing my mother continue her torrent of painful suffering at the disappearance of her child. Quickly weighing the odds, I muttered an ancient chant that fueled my body with the powers of justice and universal law. Brimming with ancient energy, I summoned the Scales of Libra and told Hades that I would be the one to judge my brother and ultimately be the one to condemn him to whatever suffering he deserves.
In a booming voice, I commanded Hades to bring forth my brother and outlined the Libran constellation in the space before me. As I finish the outline, Hades and his throne room quickly disappear into that of a courtroom. Amazed at my doing, Hades quickly approached my position and demanded to know how I was able to oust his powers while in his own kingdom.
"My dear Hades. The law that governs us all is the ultimate voice in any matter and nobody can compete with the power of Justice" boomed a feminine voice. I smiled knowing all too well who the voice belonged to; Themis, the Titan Goddess of Justice, my guiding divinity. She commands Hades to bring forth Scorpio in which he heeded. Scorpio was escorted into the courtroom by Thanatos, arms and legs shackled by silver gauntlets that had ancient symbols scribbled all over.
I locked eyes with my brother and summoned him before me and Themis to be judged. I silently apologized to him and my mother but it was better for everyone that I be the reason in which my own brother die than at the hands of a vengeful god and a three-headed dog. I commanded that he place his left hand onto the Scales of Libra and on the other base I added a pearl white feather from Themis. If Scorpio were to be spared, balance would need to be maintained between the two bases however the base holding his hand dips. Mentally groaning, I knew it was over for him; the sin he committed against the Egyption god was too great.
I glanced at Themis with disheartened eyes and as if she understood my conflict, raised her hands and pronounced that the judgement was over; Scorpio was to be subjected to capital punishment at the doing of Hades who was there as a substitute for Anubis.
"I am sorry brother for I have brought this ultimate judgement upon you however I only hope you can forgive me in your next life" I whispered barely loud enough for him to hear. My only response back was a deathly hallow stare that pierced through my soul. Hades glared at me and Themis, cursing at both of us for wasting his time and immediately disappeared with Scorpio.
Saddened, I sought comfort from the ultimate justice herself to only receive a curt nod of approval at what I have done. Emptiness filled my soul and I once again stood at the bank of the river Styx, begrudgingly returning home to tell the other Zodiacs what had happened; I tried. I truly did try, however nobody was above the universe's laws. Nobody.
Brief summary: Libra is summoned to the Underworld by Hades after looking for his lost brother, Scorpio by the river Styx. Hades wants Libra to witness the torture and death of Scorpio who had killed an offspring of the Egyptian god Anubis (God of the Dead and Egyptian counterpart of Hades). Conflicted, Libra comes up with the idea of using his divinity with justice and brings Scorpio to court in which he is deemed worthy of such punishments for his actions (killing the Egyptian god's offspring). Scorpio is sent off with Hades and Libra is returned back to the River Styx where he laments at the losing of his brother. The end.....for now >:)
