Chapter three

Several months had passed since Subaru had told his story of when he was taken by Fei Wang Reed and forced to learn bloodbending. Since then, he and Seishirou had celebrated the birth of their fifth child.

"Good morning, Seiko, how's my little one feeling?"

All Subaru got was a few gurgles in response resulting in him laughing.

"Are you sure you should be up?"

"I told you I'm fine...besides someone needs to teach Maeko-chan waterbending. She's already gifted with it...now to teach her how to control it."

"Her brother's quite gifted with firebending as well. Nowhere near my level of course; but you know. I believe it was Kurogane that said my bending barely counts as fire bending."

"Kurogane-san was just complimenting you I'm sure."

"Any word if he and Fai are going to join the Dragons of Heaven?"

"No they have a bigger mission, don't you think? What about Fai's brother Yuui? He joining the Dragons of Earth?"

"Nope. Just wants to run his metalbending school. Will be useful for when the avatar comes of age. They should know how to bend the sub elements as well. Well except..."

Pale hands clenched. "Yeah we won't be going there...what about you? Going to teach them lightning bending?"

"Maybe. Depends if they make a good impression."

"Either way we should prepare ourselves. Fei Wang Reed may have lost several waterbenders but I hear he's recruiting anyone...your mother included."

"Wonderful. Then we prepare the Dragons of Heaven and Earth. My mother's the only one that can match me in firebending."

"No, you're wrong. You're better."

"If you say so..."

"I know so. Don't argue with me...remember last time?"

Amber eyes closed and the taller man smiled. "I do; maybe I liked it."

"Stop flirting...we need to be on top of our game just like when we took over the Dragons of Heaven and Earth..."

"That was fun though."

"Are you Subaru Sumeragi?"

"Yes."

"Good. You'll be perfect for the Dragons of Heaven. I hear there's no one that can out bend you when it comes to water. Perhaps you'd like to join the Dragons of Heaven and help protect airbenders and take down those horrible Dragons of Earth."

"Protect the airbenders?" Instantly Subaru thought of his younger brother Kamui, an airbender. Although the air nation had been rebuilt, they were still far and few between. "What do I have to do?"

"Just defeat me in a match...and you're in."

The match was no contest, Subaru easily overpowered Hinoto. His knowledge of the different styles of bending and the overall mastery he had of waterbending proved him victorious.

"Sumeragi-san?"

"Yes?"

"Since you beat me in a match, would you reveal how you did it?"

"Water and ice and studying different forms that's all."

"Is it true you can blood bend?"

Emerald eyes went wide and memories came flooding back. "No."

"Ah, very well then let us go take down the Dragons of Earth..disgusting pile of fire and earthbenders! To think my own sister betrayed me for them!"

She was holding her heels in her hands to prevent any sound on the pavement to disturb the young man in front of her. So when a wall of green fire went up she was very surprised. "Are you Seishirou Sakurazuka?"

"Depends who's asking and what they want."

"Kanoe of the Dragons of Earth; I want to rid the world of a rebel group of waterbenders, though there may be a few airbenders as well. We have several elite fire and earthbenders on our team but no one as legendary as the Sacred Dragon himself."

"Hmm legendary am I? What do I have to do to get in? Beat you?"

"Of course you're already in...your bending cannot be matched."

The blue flames in his hands remained surrounding him in a blue glow as he smirked. "Smart move; there's only one person that can match me in bending."

The battle between the Dragons of Heaven and the Dragons of Earth was going full throttle and Subaru was right in the thick of it.

"All of this will help protect airbenders! I don't like to fight people but if this is for the best, I shall fight!"

A blast of fire whizzed by his head and he was face to face with Kanoe.

"If I rid the world of you, my sister doesn't have a chance of winning." Emerald eyes went wide, at such close range he didn't think he'd be able to block the flames.

What Kanoe wasn't expecting was the wall of green flames blocking her. "What are you doing? They're the enemy!"

"Perhaps, but you didn't tell me Subaru-kun was on their side."

"Hoho, sister you can't move so now's my chance to take our your strongest member."

This time it was amber eyes that went wide as he felt his body being controlled. His mother had hired a bloodbender to manipulate him once, but this was even worse he was older and stronger...yet he could still be controlled. If he was out of control he couldn't keep the barrier up over Subaru....

Then out of nowhere it stopped...but how? Why would Hinoto drop her hold on him? "I THOUGHT YOU SAID YOU COULDN'T BLOODBEND SUMERAGI-SAN!?"

"I lied. Now back off before I burst your internal organs."

"Very well, we will retreat for today but both of you are fools if you think this is the end."

Emerald and amber eyes looked on the battlefield where it was still going on. "We have to stop this..." It was Subaru that stepped forward first.

"Dragons of Heaven please listen to me, they are not your enemy! Avatar Aang and Avatar Korra fought hard to unite the four nations! We can do the same even if we currently do not know the identity of the new avatar. When I was a child...an equalist attacked me when I was bending and a firebender saved me. I've been close to him ever since that day. We're actually married and have a family."

A wall of green fire went up as amber eyes narrowed at the Dragons of Earth. "You heard him, he's right. I did save him even though with my bending I could easily overthrow the four nations and rule the world single handily. I'm actually Fire Lord Sekka's SON. I don't want that. Not until I can bring my husband who's a waterbender by my side and rule together."

"We were pretty incredible back then, huh?"

"What do you mean back then Subaru-kun? We still are. We're a bit older but that doesn't mean we can't still have incredible fun."

Emerald eyes glimmered with confusion before Subaru got the message. "OH!"

A soft smile met a crooked smirk as the pair kissed before heading into their bedroom which was now incased in a rainbow glow.
