"FAYERIN PAY ATTENTION!" Professor Ludwig yelled at me for the 5th time today. To be polite I decided to answer him... with a barely audible scoff. "Faye I swear! When will you learn respect?"
"Professor Ludwig." I replied, poisening my voice with intimidation, "When will you learn respect especially..." I stopped mid sentence and tugged on a small piece of what appeared to most people to be paper. Ludwig knew better, and he knew that at one point everyone would too. His face lit to be a ghostly white color. He ended up dropping the subject. Quite a few of the students looked bewildered, after all it was no small feat to put Mr. Ludwig in his place.
Mr. Ludwig was once a dark at this school, like a select few of the other students. It was my job as a light to report the higher ranking ones and at times take action. Usually Lights would keep the darks in line at school and report suspicious behaviour but sometimes we would have to put an end to them, if you know what I mean.
The sound of a bell drew my attention back. "Faye, come on we need to go to our next class." Mylia impatiently exclaimed. Mylia was my best friend, she was a mid like most of the other students at our academy. She flipped her long strawberry blonde hair, turned around and started walking away.
I couldn't help but chuckle a little bit, she was so sassy at times. "I'm coming just give me a second." I quickly shoved my stuff in my black hole back pack, a.k.a the backpack of no returns, and ran after her.

The school day seemed to drag on into eternity. One boring class after another. Nothing interesting had happened in awhile, I thrived on excitement, and as of a couple months ago I had to get use to not thriving.
I walked out into our private academies courtyard. It was very spacious and had a slight Asian arrangement to it. I always found this weird, why Asian? Why not Russian or English or I don't know...!
This was how bored I was, spending my time debating, with myself, the set up of my school. Walking over to the stone bench I found my self devoured by boredom. 'Maybe something interesting would happen tonight' I thought, at least I could hope. After all the Darks only assembly was this night.
A fortnight ago all of the Darks had been notified about the assembly. The head of the school asked, actually more like ordered me, as a light, to work the security since only darks were to attend.
In our society darks werent allowed the same freedom as Lights, or mids who were completley oblivious to the social caste. Darks were dangerous, they could do stuff that neither lights nor mids could. And maybe. Just maybe that is why he left such an impression on me. Maybe that is why I questioned our caste.
