Kaylie
The party of the year. My party. It's always a legend among high school. Ever since Freshman year they've been held twice a year every year. Finally Senior year has come and the biggest party yet is about to come. Just have to put up the streamers. Me and my mother have the 2nd biggest house in town. Which isn't saying much in Brook-side. This town is so small. Gossip get's around like a race car. Nothing is a secret here. Everyone will find out if you skipped church, this town is huge church town, or if you divorced your wife. Everyone makes it their business. That's why my mom thought this would be the perfect place to settle down to write her book. She want's easily accessible drama.
I hate drama, but being a girl, it seems drama is always around the corner. I'm a cheerleader and a very smart student. The teacher's kind of like me, but I'm no teacher's pet. That's Lynna Kyleson. I always like to invite her, but it's not like she comes anyway. Probably sitting at home playing with those creepy dolls she has. I admit the first week of freshman year we were friends. Then she started acting creepy and dressing like she was a boy. She still does to this day. She changed from the first day I met her, but I brushed it off and just ignored her.
"Kaylie! Come help me with your sign!" I heard my mom yell. She always has problems putting up the signs. Usually do to her lack of being tall. That's why people usually don't believe I'm related to her. I am 5'11 and she's 5'1. See what I mean? Before she could start yelling again I walked outside to where she is putting up the sign. I saw her struggling to put up the purple banner that says 'Senior Year Party'. It should say end of senior year party, but my mom forgot. I rolled my eyes and stood behind her.
"Kaylie! Co- oh there you are. Okay hold this ladder while I put the sign up please." I took hold of the rusty metal that shouldn't be considered a ladder. My mother's drab white button-up and dark wash jeans looks good on her, but I could never pull that off. She has long black hair while I'm stuck with dirty blonde hair that reaches to my mid-back. Her blue eyes look nothing like my green ones. Sadly, she can't come to my party tonight, because she has a huge work dinner with her boss and her boyfriend. Her boss is a stuck-up lady with a bad smell to her wrinkly skin. Her boyfriend, in contrast, is tan and a lot less wrinkly. He's an inch taller than me and he has dark brown eyes that compliment his brown hair. He has muscles like you wouldn't believe. A great catch for my mom in this small town. Unlike my mother, I'm single. By choice.
"Once your done with that mom could you help me pick out what I'm going to wear. I have tons of dresses that I want you to see. Or we could go shopping I know how you love that." I said as she hammered in the last of the nails. I'm not most girls. I'm involved in my mom's life and she's involved in mine. She helps me pick out some of my cutest outfits. She might not look amazing 24/7, but she has a great sense of style. I'm not popular, but that doesn't mean people don't come to my party. My parties are legendary, anyone who's anyone comes. I invite everyone, but some of the less fortunate people don't come, even though I make it very clear that I would love if they did. My mom hammered in one last nail and started making her way down. For a second I thought she did not hear my question.
"Kay I wish I could, but I'm trusting you with that this time. Daniel wants to pick me up earlier than what we originally planned. I'll give you some money just in case you do need to go shopping though. How about you invite Samantha to help you? I'm sure she would be delighted. I nodded and watched my mother walk slowly in to the house. I follow her after the door closes. Our house has a beautiful Victorian style. It's white color and black lined windows make it look amazing. It's two stories make it look like a giant compared to the other ones on the block. I searched through my contacts on my phone for Sammy and clicked call.
