Chapter one
_________________________________"Do you really have to leave town?" Lia said as she laid on the bed with her head on Luke's chest.
"You know I do," Luke said with a sigh following short. "But I'll be back, I promise." He placed a kiss on Lia's forehead. She closed her eyes, wishing she could be in this moment forever. Or at least just for a few more hours.
Luke was leaving in an hour. He had been stuck in the city for years, ever since he graduated high school. He was going away for college, after all he couldn't stay just to please Lia.
"Help me pack the rest, will you?" Luke asked as he smoothly glided out of bed. Lia nodded her head and got out of bed herself.
A big part of her didn't want Luke to leave, she was afraid that they would fall out of love. And if they did exactly that, all of the hard work convincing her parents, that Luke was her perfect fit, would be for absolutely nothing."Do you know when you'll be coming back to visit?" Lia asked, as she kept her head down, folding some of Luke's shirts.
People had always judged Lia and Luke for being together. In fact, why wouldn't they? Lia was starting senior year, a 17 years old girl, and Luke had graduated high school three years ago. If he hadn't stayed because of her, he would be going into his last year of college already.
"Not quite," Luke admitted as he let his eyes wander to Lia's imperfectly perfect face. "I might be back for thanksgiving." He shook his shoulders. He was very well aware, that him leaving was hard on Lia, but he knew that he had to put himself first.
He couldn't just wait around for her to graduate, and then hope they would get accepted to the same college. Things just didn't work that way, and they never had."I'm not going to see you for, what, 4 months?" Lia looked up at Luke as she said her words. Tears were starting to fill her eyes. She knew that she wasn't going to see him that often, but it hadn't gone through her mind, that it would be months and months on end.
Luke walked over to her, putting his long arms around her small frame. "I'm sorry." Was all he said, before he placed a kiss on her forehead and took her hand. He slowly let go of her hand, grabbing his, now, packed bags. "I've to go." He said.
Lia followed him out to his car, wanting to be the last one to see him. After all, he was the first one to see her.
"I'm gonna miss you." She said, as she watched him buckle up."I'm gonna miss you too, my sweet babygirl." Those were the last words he said to her, before starting the engine and driving off to the university of Stanford.
