BRIT
I wander around slowly walking home trying to avoid people. It's pretty easy since I have no friends. Every day I walk home from school alone, even my brother Asher doesn't walk with me. I wish I had a car. A long time ago in the two thousands there were cars but now there are none because of the pollution cars produce.
Everyday on the way home I stop to look at the wall. The wall is a huge wall that goes to the clouds blocking the North City from the South. If anyone tried to climb it they would be killed by the wall guards. My mother attempted to climb the wall after my father went missing and now she's dead. Me and my brother are parentless. I'm fine with being parentless after all I'm sixteen and my brother is a few months older than me.
Here I am. At the wall. I run my hand across the brick and admire it. I know I'm supposed to hate the people and things on the other side of the wall but I can't help but long to meet them.
"Hey you there!" a guard shouted making me jump, "what are you doing at the wall?"
"Walking home from school," I answered.
"We'll see about that!" The guard snapped pulling out his phone, "What school do you go to?"
"Richmond High," I told him.
He dialed the school number and asked, " What's your name kid?"
"Brit Miller," I said.
"Does a student named Brit Miller go to your school?" The guard asked into the phone.
I could tell the person on the other side of the phone answered yes by the guards mad face. "I'll let you off this time but you better not come near the wall again." He said putting his phone back in his pocket and walking away.I turned in the other direction and started to run home with my light brown hair waving in my face. It was about a mile run and when I got home I was tired. I walked inside our small house and sat down on the couch, one of the only pieces of furniture we had considering both of our parents are dead.(Most people in the North City are rich.)
"Hi Brit," Asher said from the kitchen table where he was working on the Science report that was assigned today. Asher was a good student who would work on a project as soon as he gets it and would make it ten times better than it needs to be. He is easily the teacher's pet. I on the other hand wait until last minute to work on my project and never participate in class.
"Hi Asher," I replied taking my binder out of my backpack.
"Are you going to start on your Science project?" Asher asked not looking up from his work.
"Uh yeah I'll start on it right after I finish my history essay," I answered honestly.
"The History essay is due tomorrow Brit. You really must work on your assignments before the day it's due," Asher scolded.
"I can do what I want thank you very much," I huffed stubbornly stalking off to my room. I pulled out my History essay and sat at my desk to think. All I ended up doing was looking in the mirror hanging on the wall in front of me. I looked like my mother with her big nose and blue eyes. But she was prettier than me with her long blonde hair. I was pretty too I guess but I never really cared about being pretty. I didn't spend thirty minutes putting on makeup and doing my hair. I don't even own makeup and the most I've ever done with my hair is put it in a ponytail.
I look just like her. It's like I'm looking at her right now and I can't bear to do that. I walk away from my desk with tears in my eyes and quickly lay down and fall asleep.
AN: That's the first chapter it's pretty short right now but it will get longer and more interesting. I may not update for a while though because I'm super busy with school and soccer and I barely have free time any more. Make sure to vote and comment!
