The little snippets aren't realated. They will (hopefully) be storys one day.
Snippet #1
Barkley jumped around his feet but he wasn’t in the mood to enjoy the dog’s happiness. Not right now. His bones ached and the cold wind felt like a thousand needles were hitting him. He closed his eyes and listened to the sounds around him. The woods were silent, everything was sleeping. The only sounds he could hear was Barkley frolicking around, the crazy dog loved the snow. He breathed in and the icy air stung his lungs. Listening harder he could hear the faint sound of sirens…then nothing. He started to walk forward, his eyes still closed. The frozen path crackled as the ice broke beneath his feet. Another gust of wind howled by and he almost slipped on a patch of ice. He opened his eyes fearing more ice, and immediately regretted it. The air was so cold it made them sting and tear up. He looked for Barkley and saw him digging in a lump of snow. “Come on Bark” he said “Let’s go home, I’m freezing.” Barkley woofed and trotted to his side. More cold wind rushed by and all the trees creaked and groaned. A mini tornado of snow whirled around the path in front of him, losing momentum and then gaining it as another wind fed into it. The snow on the nearby trees fell off in the wind and landed around them. Walking briskly, he and Barkley continued on the path towards home, and away from the frozen winter wonderland.
Snippet #2
She sat with her back against the cold window and listened to the night sounds. Crickets singing their last songs before fall came, dogs barking in the distance and the tinkling of the glass chimes hanging outside. The book in her hand smelled faintly of mildew and every so often, with her neon green highlighter, she would circle a word or phrase that stood out to her. Or she had been doing that. Now she was reading and re-reading that same words over and over, her grey eyes heavy with lack of sleep. Next to her was a bottle of chocolate milk that she had finished hours ago, but she could still smell a faint hint of chocolate. Closing her eyes she listened to the sounds of the night outside. Her butt hurt from sitting in one place for so long, and her legs cramped. She was warm, but the cool window against her back kept her from getting too hot. She relaxed and rested her head on the glass, and then slowly nodded off to sleep.
