There Is No Peace

The moon ran after the sun and into the sky,
Like a cavalry man chasing after a prize. The darkness filled the sky and

All that was left was the shimmering light
Of the moon. I look around all of the darkness around,

Only bark on fields lying atop the soil.
The large machines spitting and praying for the plants to grow.

Only shrubs are poking around and only
One road leading to field after field.
There is nothing around and no wildlife. Only some deer and some

Insects, buzzing at my ear. Bangs in the distance of

Hunters, getting in their last meals of the day.
A streetlight flickers, but no cars appear. The deer comes trotting down the road.
Looking for food, looking for shelter, then BANG!

Down on the road and nothing left. He comes for it and takes to home.
The stars are still twinkling and remind me of the peace.

Is there peace?

There is no piece where the dirt looks like a maggot filled chocolate cake.

The sky was cloth, trapping in everyone on earth. But then the sun ran after

The moon. Like a cavalry man after a prize, and it all shrinks away.

The peace is back until another gunshot is heard.

Another deer shot dead and being dragged off for supper.

These fields are bad, these hills are cages, and
These animals are not peaceful. The plants will
Never grow for anything and we are left with nothing but monsters.
