The young girl slowly opened her eyes as the sound of moans and growling was heard just outside the small home she was in. She was laying on a couch in the basement, in her opinion, a great hiding spot from the walkers that threatened to hurt her. She had been almost alone for over a year, with no electricity and very little food, and no people to talk to and keep her sane. She felt strange in her own body, not entirely there but somehow still living.

She sat up from the comfortable couch, rolling her eyes from the walkers loud noises outside. Wondering why there were so many when she cleared the area not too long ago for her own safety.

Her heart was racing slightly, even though she had done this multiple times, as she leaned over and grabbed her tennis shoes from under the coffee table next to the couch. She quickly slipped them on with the laces already tied and double knotted. She was dressed in a pair of jeans that began to feel loose after losing so much weight from before, and a hoodie with a band name plastered on it. Her dark brown hair was short, way above her shoulders, she liked it better that way, it made it easier to survive. She decided it would have to do as she cautiously walked up the stairs of the basement, listening for any noises as she opened the thin wooden door and peeked around it.

She could hear that the noises from outside continued to get louder and closer together. She felt afraid that maybe they had found her and knew that she was in the house, but there were no loud bangs against the house to tell for sure. Slowly she walked over to the back door that was directly in front of the basement entrance and took a slight look under the curtain to the door that led outside.

She froze at the sight and almost just assumed that it was not real, as if she was only hallucinating, but she knew deep down it had to be there. A young Korean man seemed to be standing on top of one of the large trash cans in the back of her yard, fighting off at least 6 walkers with only a small knife and a gun.

At first she felt a feeling telling her to just turn around and wait until he was dead but soon felt guilt at that thought, that if that was her she would hope that someone would save her, let her live because right now that's all that matters.

Sighing, she grabbed her knife from the counter in the kitchen which was only around the corner and silently opened the door after unlocking it. The man seemed to see her instantly and gave her a sympathetic face, begging for her help, for her to save him from death. She slowly lifted her finger to her mouth and walked down the steps leading to her back door as quietly as she could, she had gotten good at that. She watched as the man took down a walker, shooting it in the head, but almost falling in the process as the trashcan wobbled.

She walked over to the fence surrounding the house and grabbed a stick seeming to be lying by. Without thinking, she slammed it against the metal as it made a loud noise, vibrations ran all through her body as the few walkers turned and started to walk towards her, forgetting the man in front of them.

She felt unafraid as she lifted her knife, piercing it through the skull of the first walker that had made its way over to her. Barely struggling to get the blade out she lifted it again and put it straight through another walkers head, doing so for the next three. Once they were all laying peacefully on the ground, motionless, she felt relived at the sudden silence. But that soon ended when she felt a wave of anger through her. She quickly snapped her head towards the man, pointing her knife at him as he was only a few feet away.

"You could have attracted more with your gun you dumbass", She sneered and glared at him. He seemed taken aback as he jumped off of the trashcan.

She quickly took action and held her knife higher, trying to intimidate the man who seemed like he knew what he was doing. He slowly held his weapons above his head, the knife seemed to be dripping with blood, and when he began to walk until he was right in front of the girl who seemed so much younger than him, he put them both on the ground, surrendering them.

He stood back up after laying them in the grass and smiled slightly."It's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you, my names Glenn and I have a group-", but before he could finish his sentence a low growl was heard from beyond the broken fence, a walker making its way towards them.

"Shit", the girl mumbled before lifting her stick and hitting Glenn in the back of the head with it.

He seemed shocked as he fell to the ground with a soft thump, unconscious. She quickly walked over to his arms, grabbing them and pulling his heavy body up the steps of her home with ease, dropping him in the doorway and running back out to grab the weapons left behind.

The gun seemed to weigh her entire arm down as she lifted it, and sighed as she pointed it straight out, pulling the trigger and hitting the walker straight in the head for she was very used to it, and quickly turned around and ran back inside. Locking the door and closing the curtain, she quickly set down the weapons on the counter and walked back over to Glenn who lay unconscious on the floor by the door.

She quietly dragged him to a bedroom on the first floor, tucking him in and setting a water bottle beside him.

She felt herself frown as she sat beside the bed. Waiting for him to wake up. Waiting for her story to begin.
