Chapter 1
Dear Diary,
Hate is not a strong enough word for how I feel about my parents at the moment. It is 2:00am and I am on a plane heading from my home in Miami, FL to some middle-of-nowhere place in Colorado to visit my step-dad's family. Not only does this start my summer off on a terrible note, but my mom thought it would be wonderful if we spent the whole summer there with my step-aunt and uncle, whom I don't even know, in their house.
I have been planning the perfect pool party for months, but now I won't see and of my friends until school starts!
This is the worst summer ever.

"Mom!"
"What" she replied, clearly aggravated.
"Tyler won't stop hitting me!" Chelsea squealed slapping Tyler right across the face.
"Bethany, tell Tyler to stop messing with your sister" my mom yelled at me from the front seat of the car.
"I'm not speaking to you or listening to anything you say until you take me home."
I was not on good terms with my parents at the moment and I could care less what they thought of my attitude.
I know the only thing my mom wanted was for all of us to enjoy our time together, and for me to get to know my step-siblings.
My dad died 5 years ago, when I was 12 and my mom got remarried a few months ago. Part of me is happy that she is happy. The other part wants to rip her hair out for trying to replace my dad.
When my mom first told me that her and Daniel we're getting married I didn't believe it. Then she had me meet him and he told me that he wanted to marry my mom and I had no choice but to believe it.
Like all parents and future step-parents do when sitting a child down to tell them they're getting remarried they tell you; 'I just want us to become best friends' or 'we only want you to be happy' and of course 'I would never try and replace your real dad/mom.'
Dan is a nice guy and I like him ok but, he'll owe me big time for screwing up my summer.
