What is the future, when there is no memory of the past? Nineteen year-old Jewel is faced with that question when she awakens from a comatose state only to not have a single memory. As if that’s not bad enough, she is confined to an underground community whose citizens seem to speak to her as if she is inhuman. Yet they all look at her with a sense of longing, as if she’s taken something that they believe she’ll return. All of them except for the leader of this subterranean civilization, Robert. Robert treats her as if she is his own child, and does everything he can to make her comfortable. At least, as comfortable as possible when you are restrained to a place with no sky, no grass, and no wildlife. What will happen as Jewel seeks to reclaim her past?
Is it better to sleep forever, or wake to a very real nightmare?
