The Unexpected

Colleen's POV
As my little girl lays on my bare chest for the first time I feel nothing but pure love and happiness. I'm so grateful the hospital called me just seconds before she was born. It was so unexpected. Just one second erik and I were sitting talking on the pier about our situation and the next the hospital called telling me about this little one. We had no idea of a name for her. She was just too perfect for a name. Since my family likes to choose names that run in the family I decided to go with Mae, my middle name which I adore. She was so tiny. She was so precious. She was so perfect. She was a calm baby. She would smile in her sleep here and there. Erik and I thought it was adorable. She had beautiful blue eyes with a little bit of dirty blonde hair. She was everything we could ever ask for and more. She was alert and looking all around sometime and she was sleepy other times. She was very was a very quiet baby. Mae was my one and only. Probably the only child I could ever have unless I adopted again.

As I watched Erik hold and feed her from a bottle all I could think about was her future. Will she be an outgoing child or will she be a shy child? Will she keep her blue eyes or will they change to something else? Will she be a daddy's girl or a mommy's girl? Only time will tell. I can't wait.
