Marinette woke up, her face bright red. She put her head in her hands and silently hyperventilated.

Is this real? No way, this has got to be some crazy dream!

She peered over the railing of her bed, heart pounding wildly.

There's no doubt about it. This is definitely not a dream, Marinette thought as she stared at the boy sprawled across the chaise lounge.

Marinette couldn't help but gape at him, still unable to grasp the situation.

Chat Noir. In her room. On her chaise lounge. Sleeping.

The memories of last night flooded in. She remembered how lonely she'd felt since her parents were away for a whole week. Marinette had assured them she would be fine, but she still missed them.

She would have asked Alya to sleep over, but her best friend was away at a summer camp. Marinette had been standing on her balcony when Chat had appeared. He had fallen out of the sky like some sort of weird angel.

Marinette smiled when she remembered their conversations. Chat had been acting strangely and, after a while, confessed that he felt like a stranger in his own home. When Marinette shyly suggested he stay the night, he'd looked surprised, but accepted.

She still wasn't sure what had pushed her to ask him to stay. Even now, as she watched him sleeping, she wondered what had taken over her. Was it the Ladybug in her? That confident and clever superhero?

Suddenly, something stirred in her chest. There was a certain peace about him. Marinette suddenly felt her heart pick up speed.

What's happening? she panicked. Why do I feel like this? This is Chat Noir! My partner. Someone who's always there for me. And... not Adrien.

Marinette shook her head to clear her mind. Quietly, she got out of bed and climbed down the ladder. She stared at him a little more, her cheeks turning a soft pink.

Subconsciously, she sighed softly and went to brush his hair out of his face.

"Kitty..."

The word slipped out of her mouth without her realizing it.

Chat Noir smiled sleepily. "Princess," he murmured.

Marinette froze. Her heart raced at the sight of Chat's messy hair, flushed cheeks, and genuine smile. "Uh, uh! Good m-morning!" she stumbled, unable to tear her eyes away from him.

Half asleep, Chat grabbed her wrist, which was right next to his face, and pulled Marinette close. He wrapped his arms tightly around her.

Marinette could have sworn her heart stopped. "Chat? Wh-what are you doing?"

"You're so pretty," Chat mumbled into her hair.

Marinette's face felt like it was on fire. "What?"

Chat just sighed happily. His grip loosened and he slumped back onto the chaise lounge.

"Chat? Chat! What was that?" Marinette demanded, blushing furiously.

Chat slowly opened his eyes and blinked. "Good meowning, princess," he purred, still barely awake.

"Ah, uh, good... morning..." Marinette whispered and stood up. "You should wake up, it's almost noon..."

Now awake, Chat sat up. "How nice it is to wake up to my princess's lovely face," he commented, winking.

Marinette huffed. "Just get up, you stupid cat."

Chat laughed. "Aww, princess, I was just joking."

Her face still red, Marinette escaped from her room and fled to the kitchen. Chat followed her.

"You know, I can cook," Chat told her.

"Me too," Marinette said. Without knowing it, her tone had taken on Ladybug's confident edge.

"Is that a challenge?" Chat teased.

Marinette smirked. "Why yes, it is."

And so, the great cook off began.

As Chat was preparing his dish, his mind drifted back to Marinette.

Who is this girl? he couldn't help but wonder. The Marinette I know is always so nervous, I'm almost afraid she doesn't like me. But this Marinette is different. I've never seen her so carefree and happy. She reminds me of... Ladybug...

He snuck a glance at Marinette, who was concentrating. A soft pink crept onto Chat's cheeks. Something about her was simply extraordinary.

Marinette Dupain-Cheng, he thought with a smile. You truly are something else.
