I woke up around 7 the next morning. I decided that I'd go get breakfast for Emily and I breakfast after I finished getting ready. It only took me half an hour till I was scribbling a note for Emily and heading out the door. The drive to starbucks was only 5 minutes so it didn't take long for me to pull up and park my car. I walked in and waited in line. My phone vibrated indicating I had a text from my friend Brooke. As I was replying, two hands covered my eyes. I almost starting freaking out till an all too familiar voice said, "Guess who?" I spun around to find a chuckling Derek, "What are you doing here?" He shrugged, "Just came to get a coffee before we get called into work." I nodded and walked up to the cashier. She looked to be about 16 and her nametag read Riley, "Hi. Could I please get two grande caramel mochas and two oat bars please?" She nodded and punched it into the register, "Your total is $13.62." I was just aobut to grab my wallet when someone handed her a twenty. I glared at derek as he recieved his change, "I could've payed y'know." He shrugged as I grabbed the tray of coffees and the snack back, "And what kind of gentleman would I be if I let you pay?" I smiled slightly, "Well thank you. I'll see you at work." I walked out and heard Derek call, "Bye beautiful" Making a blush rise to my cheeks.
I opened the door just as Emily walked out of the bathroom dressed for work. I smiled at her and set the items on the coffee table. She thanked me and we both took a seat and ate. We finished in about 5 minutes and took our coffees to work since we got called down to the station. Apparently they went to the house that threw the parties and discovered the mother of James Nelson, the guy who lived there, had recently left after cheating on her husband for years. Her name was Heidi and she was a brunette.
We pulled up to the station and walked in. The team were all sitting around a table discussing the new information we found. "Did you bring James in for questioning?" I asked taking a seat next to Morgan and sipping my coffee. Dad nodded, "Reid's in there right now." Suddenly I got an idea. I stood up, "You know how the killer prefers brunettes?" Everyone nodded, "What if I go in there and talk to him. Maybe since I'm brunette it will set him off." Dad shook his head, "Absolutely not. I don't wanna put you in harms way." Morgan spoke up, "Come on Hotch. I'll even go in there with her. Nothing will happen, I'll make sure of it." Dad sighed, "Fine. Just be careful." We both nodded and headed towards the interrogation room. Reid walked out and met us in the hall, "Good luck. He won't talk." I took a deep breath, here goes nothing. I stepped in and saw a man in his early twenties sitting in handcuffs. He looked up and smirked, "Since when did the BAU get sexy agents?" I felt Derek tense slightly beside me. I smirked back at James, "Since when did criminals get attractive?" Derek knew I was just trying to get James to start talking so he relaxed a bit. We both took a seat across from him, "So James, how's the past few years been? Mom ran out on you, Dad commited suicide when you were just a baby, and now you're in jail. Doesn't your life sound exciting." The smirk disappeared off his face, "How'd you know all that?" I stood up and slowly made my way towards him, "I have my ways." I whispered in his ear running a hand down his chest. "I heard you prefer brunettes. Is it cause when you kill them, they remind you of your mom?" Derek asked. James frowned, "I didn't kill him. You have no proof I did." I sent a look at Derek, "True, but we are able to keep you for 72 hours. You might as well speak up now." James sighed, "I didn't kill the girls, but I have an idea who." I stood straight up, "Who?" "This guy that started coming to my parties. He kinda looks in his late twenties. His name starts with an H. Harry, Hector, Haiden, Henry! His name was Henry. He graduated from IGA a few years back. He's kinda creepy, always watching the girls as if he was planning something. I swear I saw him take a picture of each of the victims too before they left." I quickly walked out with Derek and pulled out my phone. "Hey Garcia. Can you find a list of graduates from IDA dating back 4 years?" I heard her typing, "467." "And how many are named Henry?" "6." "Are there any that still live near by?" "One. Henry Miller, 27. Wife recently got a divorce. His address is 4572 Cotton Drive." I thanked her and hung up.
I had changed into something more suitable. We pulled up to Henry's house and saw the porch light on. My gun was in my hand as we slowly crept to the front door. Derek kicked the door down, "FBI!" SWAT quickly filled the house looking for any clues. I came across a secret door and opened. It lead to what I assumed was a basement. I slowly walked down, being careful to not make any noise. I noticed a man, I assumed was Henry, holding a gun to a girl's temple. "Drop your weapon or I shoot!" I slowly lowered my gun to the ground, "You don't have to do this Henry. These girls did nothing wrong." Henry pointed the gun to me, "Shut up! She left me for someone else. People need to pay." Two gunshots were fired and Henry fell to the floor lifeless. I turned around and saw Derek with his gun. My dad ran passed me and got the girl, carrying her upstairs. I stood frozen. Derek walked over to me, "Are you oka-" I cut him off by hugging him. "You saved my life." I whispered and felt tears form in my eyes. I felt Derek's arms wrap around my waist. "Come on. Let's go home, you need rest." I nodded as Derek picked me up bridal style and carried me to the SUV. I leaned my head on the window and closed my eyes on the way back.
I woke up and saw I was on the jet. Everyone but JJ, who was sitting across from me, was asleep. " Why aren't you sleeping?" I asked her. She shrugged, "Can't sleep." I nodded and glanced at Derek who was asleep beside me, "He really cares about you." I looked over at JJ when she said that, "We're just partners. I mean yes he saved my life, but I don't see him like that." She nodded unconvinced, "You say that, but do you believe it?" Before I could answer, Derek and my dad woke up. I sat there till the plane landed thinking about what she said.
It felt good to be back at my apartment. Chucking my bag and jacket onto a near by chair, I pet my two puppies, Bandit and Bear (ON POLYVORE). I decided to call up JJ and see if she wanted to go get lunch. Ring, ring, ring "Hey Lex." I giggled at the nickname. "Hey J. I was wondering if you wanted to go get some lunch." I said flipping through the newspaper I had brought inside. "Sure! Will took Henry out to a baseball game so I got nothing to do. I'll pick you up in 20 minutes?" She asked and I smiled, "Perfect. I'll text you the address." I hung up and texted her the address. I quickly changed into something more casual and unpacked my bag. I finished and went on my phone, seeing a text from Derek.
